I would like to use an argument passed to an active monitor via Active Monitor Advanced Properties at poll time ...

Do you know if this argument is serialized or available somewhere in CheckService ?

Ok sent a case and the answer is quite simple

Argument + desciption are serialized. 

// locals
_bstr_t bstrArgument, bstrComment;
 pSerialize->GetAttribute( _bstr_t("sArgument"), bstrArgument.GetAddress() );
pSerialize->GetAttribute( _bstr_t("sComment"), bstrComment.GetAddress() );
