Just getting to know WhatsUp Gold.  We have an application on our system that freezes at times and causes our Internet network to slow/loose packets.  Normally our ping response is 50ms.  When the network slows it goes over 180ms.  Is there a way to set up a monitor to expect a ping in under 100ms and alert us of this problem?

MGilbert,
Default Timeout. This is the number of seconds to wait for a response from a polled device. You can enter a value from 1 to 30 seconds. This value (the default is 5) is assigned to new devices when they are added to the map. You can override this value for a specific device by setting the Poll Timeout in Monitor of device properties.

This is what is available as it is in Whatsup.
Nevertheless, if you do check for such a small delay, you probably have to find something that checks constantly the pinging results, resulting in quite a network traffic...

You can try to reduce the Poll Frequency of the map (min is 10 sec), but that will not give you the below 100ms results!! (and I am sure you did try that already!)

You are correct, I have looked at the wait time and 1 second is just too much for this application.

What I am looking for is maybe a way to setup a new TCP type monitor and have it expect values less than say 100ms in the response.  Looks like it could be done by looking at the other TCP monitors, but I don't have lots of time on my hands right now to figure it out.

Hopefully someone has already run into this.

Just holding my breath.
