With virtual machine technology being used more and more I have tried to create an installation of IMail 11.01 that would run as a VM and point to the user information on another server with lots of space. I am having trouble with permissions and wondered if anyone else has tried something like this?

I believe the IUSR account is a local account and the NETWORK SERVICE service is a local service how can you configure these local objects to address the other server? I changed the IIS configuration to use a DOMAIN\account but how do you change the NETWORK SERVICE to authenticate on the other system?

Any ideas??

It is not recommended (may not even be possible) to use a network drive for mailboxes, if that is what you are trying to do.

Well as far as I can tell you're right!!!

It seems impossible to use a network share for user data. This is because of a limitation of IIS in that you need access that is identical to the root location of the www server you are using (iadmin or iclient) and the users area for pass through authentication. I can't seem to figure out a way to allow the network service access to anything other than it's own local file structure, so I guess that's out. I did figure that it's only my mail archive that is taking up most of the space and I can move that collection weekly to another system and get away with using a much smaller amount of disk space. So maybe I can get away with that...
