| | Since upgrading to v11.01 from v8.22 I have had several users that have txt attachments coming into their webmail's body instead of as an attachment. Can someone point me in the right direction to get this fixed so that txt attachments are received as txt attachments. Not sure if this is a mime problem or not... Thank you for any help you can offer me! Kevin |

| | What browser are they using? What client is sending the text attachment? Tamara Ipswitch Messaging Support |

| | The user is using IE8 and as far as the sending client, it is from our iSeries ( I don't know what kind of sending client it uses) that sends email out in text format along with files in txt format. The same file sent to Outlook client's are received as txt file attachments. |

| | Did you run the convert.exe to convert the mailboxes from version 8.22 to 11.01 format? Could you email me a copy of one of the main.mbx files in a compressed file that I can test here? Tamara Ipswitch Messaging Support |

| Yes we ran the convert.exe. Here is the file you requested with an example in it.

| | Hello Kevin, The header of this message contains a multipart/mixed content type with a boundary as below: Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="--PART.BOUNDARY.1" However, when it continues to give us the separation of the boundary, you see that it is telling us to place the filename QSYSPRT.TXT as an inline image. Please see: This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ----PART.BOUNDARY.1 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit ----PART.BOUNDARY.1 Content-Type: text/plain; name="QSYSPRT.TXT" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline; filename="QSYSPRT.TXT" (bolded for emphasis) IMail is being instructed to display this email as inline, not as an attachment. The sending client needs to change that inline to attachment if it wants mail clients to display as an attachment. Outlook tends to handle multipart/mixed messages as attachments and has been displaying them incorrectly for awhile now. As seen when you have a text body and an html signature, Outlook will display one as an attachment instead of both in body of email. Outlook Express is dispalying the email with the attachment and inline. For this file to be displayed as an attachment by all mail clients, change the Content-Disposition to attachment instead of inline. Tamara Ipswitch Messaging Support |
