| | Hi, anyone on Windows 7 has managed to run WS FTP? Incredibly it hangs when waiting for the site's password to be entered. I have tried the various ompatibility modes for running it with no results (Vista, XP SP2, etc.). I have tried it on two machine with same results. Thanks. |

| I'm having the same issue. I understand it's an unsupported operating system but is there a beta we can test? WS FTP 12 works fine on some other machines of mine running Windows 7 x64 but now my notebook.

| | Brian, There is not a beta at this time. If there is a Technical Preview, it will be announced in the forums.

| | It hangs on mine too. They need to get on the stick, Windows 7 has been released to MFG so you would expect a world class FTP software MFG would get their act together and at least fix it so you can use the basic functionality of the program. Some lame manager just needs to step up and live up to the Reputation that IPSWITCH has built rather than these lame excuses... James |

| | Same problem here. I'm surprised, and disappointed, that IPSWITCH hasn't corrected this, given how long Win7 RTM and stable builds prior to RTM have been available. The software is useless to me at the moment, and I just bought a new copy of it. (I've always been a fan of it.) Please get this fixed, guys!

| | Hi, I have the same thing. It worked fine when I had checked the remember password box but I added a new site without remembering password and the next time I started wsftp the popup appeared to enter password and it hung there. I'm running windows 7 ultimate. Not a pre-release version, it is the full thing from the Microsoft Action Pack. I still have a licence for version 7 so might try installing that. Buying the version 12 licence was a waste of money! cheers, Robert |

| Ipswitch,
I have been running a very stable Windows 7 for months and am now running the full release version. Why no WS_FTP Pro compatibility? At least a Beta version? By its very nature your audience are developers that are already using Windows 7 (for months now). Color me disappointed in your progress here ...

| Windows 7 is NOT a beta program it has been released to manufacturing.
As a software development company Ipswirch has advanced copies and have had them for months. This lack of an update to make the latest version Windows 7 compatible shows a lack of commitment to getting things right.
I can run this in a vm and get my work done but it is quite pathetic that this hasn't been done in a timely manner. Companies like Ipswitch are what give all new releases a bad name.
The Ignorant consumers blame the OS when it is actually bad software vendors who take no responsibility to keep their product current. I think I see where this is headed and it is probably a new version that you will want us to all buy. That would be the last straw.
If this isn't patched soon I will stop spending on WSFTP products and start using some of the many alternatives available.
Windows 7 is not a surprise to Ipswitch. The lack of a patch is simply failing to turn in an assignment on time. this isn't school this is real life for most of us. We make our deadlines and do a better job than is expected if possible. But Ipswitch seems to be doing as little as they can just to get by. If all companies did business like this nothing would work. The PC relies on co-operation from vendors. Windows 7 has been released but it isn't available for retail sales until Oct 22. The code for Windows 7 is done. Ipswitch has Windows 7 but Ipswitch has not fixed their product proactively. To fall back and say this is an unsupported OS says to me that Ipswitch thinks i am stupid. Maybe I am stupid and maybe that is why I use Ipswitch products.
I am tempted to just uninstall and move on. |
