| I am using WUG 12.4, I've added the netapp.mib using mibextra.exe. I added a device, and snmp is working, and I can use the SNMP MIB Walker. The problem is I have no clue how to set up performance counters like monitoring free space on volumes, CPU, Ops/sec etc...
Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks a ton! |

| | You no longer need mibextra.exe with WUG V12... you do need to stop/start the console app if you want to see your newly added MIBs (you put them into the c:\program files\ipswitch\whatsup\data\mib folder, right?). To create a new monitor, open the Active or Performance Monitor Library and click New >SNMP type >OK. On this screen use the "..." button to open the MIB Browser and find the new vendors folder and the object you want to monitor, selecting from the right hand pane and clicking OK. Sorry, I don't have that MIB so you will have to browse around to find the thing you want. Finish filling out this screen and click OK back to the console. Don't forget to add this new monitor to your devices and tell WUG what Credentials it needs to use for each device, too. Daniel Donnelly |

| I pretty much figured that much out, and I have configured CPU monitoring successfully, but how do I create a performance monitor where I want to query multiple instances? NetApp has an OID that has a different instance for each volume that I want to get a capacity used for... Is there a wildcard? Some way to set this up so that I can create reports for each of a varying number of instances?
Thanks for the quick response! |

| | If you want a Performance Monitor to query multiple OIDs then you need to use the 'Active Script' type of monitor. Use the Reference Variables area to setup the OIDs you want and the script area to manipulate them. Or make multiple monitors, one for each volume instance (if there is a single object that shows utilization for each volume). Daniel Donnelly |
