I just upgraded to SP1. I've reconfigured my NT service monitors with credentials which resolved my service monitoring problems with SP1 on all of my Windows 2000 and above servers. (SIDE NOTE: Please add a global credential setting that can be the default so that I don't have to enter an account and password under each action, or provide an option to use the credentials of the polling engine service)
However, I am still monitoring about two dozen NT4.0 servers and NT service monitoring is failing on about 90% of the NT 4.0 servers even though the monitors are correctly configured. Is WMI even supported on NT 4.0 servers? Is there some component that needs to be updated?
Since NT 4 did not have WMI installed by default, that may be why the NT 4 service checks are failing. Follow this KB article to download the WMI api for NT 4 from the Microsoft site:

This is not a NT4 problem. I experience the same issues on Windows 2000. All my servers are Windows 2000 and "access denied" occurs on some boxes I have.
