Not providing the same reports as Whats Up Gold has been an issue here since Pro came out.

As a Network Monitor - Pro is fine. It's just that the availability reports and summarytxt reports I was exporting from Gold to provide SLA for end users can't be done if I move to Pro.

Are Ipswitch going to continue with Whats Up Gold in the form of Whats Up FT Premium (Gold with Fault Tolerance and SQL/Exchange monitor)? If so, then I think I'd be better off staying with that one!

Any feedback from Ipswitch would be greatly appreciated.

If WhatsUp Professional 2005 SP1 is your first look at the product then you get 30 days to evaluate.

If you are part way through an evaluation of WhatsUp Professional 2005 then you can install SP1 on top. The clock is reset. You are back to 30 days evaluation.

If you previously evaluated WhatUp Professional and the evaluation expired, then you can install SP1 on the same PC and get a fresh 30 days.

The activation key is only absolutely required once the 30 days is up. Until then, the product is completely full featured with the exception of SSL web access

There's a couple of observations that I can make here..

1) Reporting in WhatsUp Professional is an area of continuous improvement. Compare SP1 with WhatsUp Professional 2005. Where we go from here depends on feedback from users such as yourself.

2) A specific design intention in WhatsUp Professional was to make it possible for users to generate their own reports. This can be done via the ASP of the web interface. Or by any standard mechanism that accesses the SQL database at the back end.

We have a logged Feature Request for this. What would be useful is to know a bit more about your Use Case.

Do you need to email the reports
What is most important? Pretty layout or a raw CSV-style report?

I quote a Nov 2004 post to the Email Forum by Product Management.. Fault Tolerance and the SQL/Exchange Monitors will be ported to WhatsUp Professional. I cannot say when.. but, personally, I expect them to be pretty cool. We got a lot of good feedback from users of the WhatsUp Gold monitors.

Admin access to the web is independent of whether you use HTTP or HTTPS to do it. It's just that the one way is excrypted and one is not.

The "failed to decrypt password" is something that we saw once before with a user. They had WhatsUp Professional 2005 installed on MS Windows 2000 and the problem was solved by installing Win 2000 SP4.

Mark,

Thanks for the Reply

What I use in WUG is wugstatdailytext.rpt and summary.rpt to give the availability for the month on a map (or devices within a map)
I also use wugstatdailytext.rpt to provide an SLA reports for the previous month for certain sites (devices) and their availability.
It doesn't matter how the output is created, if I can get what I need from a SQL query then I should be able to format it out in the same way as the report looked like in WUG.
All I need is the exact same data out of WUP as I got from WUG.
Is there a list somewhere that gives the SQL queries for the Whats Up Professional Database to provide the same output of the reports from cstatrpt in WUG?
Once exported, I'll be able to modify and email the results myself.

Thanks again
