I am a newbie in setup a web and email server.  I am currently running on Sambar server and IMail v7.14.

From what I think, the web messaging page should point to the login.html file in the Web directory inside IMail directory, right?  But when I try to login with my username and password, the server returned a message stating "Cannot locate the login.cgi file".  May I know where can I get this file?

Thanx a lot in advance!

There is no physical login.cgi file; it's part of the IWEBMSG executable.  If you are getting such an error, it is likely due to a more wide-ranging file I/O issue than just a single file.  Please explain further your deployment of Sambar with IMail and your IMail main, spool, and mailbox paths in particular.

Do I need to configure my Sambar server for .cgi application? Actually I didn't do much configure on my Sambar server, only some settings on php and sql...  I had disable the Mail server that comes with the Sambar server.

Can you tell me where should I install the IMail?  Issit inside the root directory of my Sambar server? I have virtual host (vhost1.mydomain.com), and I would like to setup IMail server to work with it (mail.vhost1.mudomain.com), so do I need to install IMail in tat virtual host directory? Do I need to setup the default page to that login.html or only need to type mail.vhost1.mydomain.com:port to access the webmail?

I am some kind of blur on the setup procedure...  Please assist me if can...  Thanx a lot in advance and thanx oso for the reply above...

install your imail server any directory you want. It does not matter. When you talk about the Web server it means that any other application which takes 80 port to transfer data. But when you talk about Web Messaging within Imail Server application it means that there are embedded web server capablity within Imail server package which installed by default not to 80 but to 8383 port.

You may also redirect 8383 to 80 but what for?

As i understand, you want to install your personal web server to enable web messaging? why? you just need to install imail server, enable web messaging service and then open login.html page with the following command in your browser http://myserver.com:8383

for example you may setup web server and imail server web messaging on the same machine but with different ports and thats all. May be i misunderstand something?

try to enter this url http://localhost:8383/login.cgi

actually, since the login.cgi is not a file, but a part of webmsg process, hence something wrong with the process iwebmsg.exe
