I'm more than likely showing my ignorance here but should SPF be implemented on my Mail server? (http://spf.pobox.com/)

If this is going to enacted in October what's the impact on my mail server and my clients?

How should I set this up and be prepared for the offical launch date?

Thanks,

First of all, you need to realize that there are two fundamentally disparate ways in which SPF may be deployed, no matter when you choose to add it to your ****nal.

One deployment is within your mail systems, where you perform checks of other remote domains' SPF records as well as your own.

The other deployment is within your domains' public DNS records, where you publish your SPF TXT records for remote servers to consult.

At any rate, I'd suggest you do a bit more research at the SPF site, read the mailing list archives, etc. before getting ahead of yourself.  You will not need to enact SPF in any capacity on the day the standard is ratified; it'll be some time before it's commonplace.  Note that at the present time, to deploy SPF on an IMail server, you need to use Declude (www.declude.com), a prominent anti-spam add-on for IMail: Ipswitch itself has not implemented SPF, which is no surprise given the still-unapproved nature of the proposal.
