| | Hi, I am hoping that someone out there is able to give me some clues on this one as i am completely stuck! We have an automated process that uses WS ftp scripts to ftp files across from an external client. This works fine on any files less than 20000 bytes, but on any files bigger than this, it gets to 20,000 bytes, hangs for a moment, then stops. There are no errors in the logs, and it completes as if the file was transferred successfully, even though it is missing the extra bytes. Here are the logs from the transfer attempt : {\rtf1\ansi\ansicpg1252\deff0\deflang1033{\fonttbl{\f0\fnil MS Shell Dlg;}}{\colortbl ;\red0\green0\blue0;\red0\green128\blue0;\red128\green128\blue0;\red255\green0\blue0;\red0\green0\blue128;\red255\green255\blue255;}\viewkind4\uc1\pard\f0\fs17 \cf2 Finding Host <name removed>.com ... \par\cf2 Connecting to <ip removed> \par\cf2 Connected to <ip removed> in 0.062500 seconds, Waiting for Server Response \par\cf1 Server Welcome: SSH-2.0-GXSSSHD_Comments \par\cf1 Client Version: SSH-2.0-WS_FTP-9.01-2007.02.09 \par\cf2 DSS Signature Verified \par\cf2 Session Keys Created \par\cf2 Ciphers Created \par\cf2 New Client->Server ciphers in place. \par\cf2 New Client->Server ciphers in place. \par\cf2 Completed SSH Key Exchange. | | Hi Mark, I've had this issue too, and so have others... I've had WS_FTP's sftp client corrupt my files before. I didn't find out until all kinds of problems started happening with those files after the transfer. I started using WinSCP now as a client. For scripting secure transfers, I've been using Cygwin's openssh package (which has sftp) with key authentication. One post on this subject said that if there is the equivalent of a "ctrl-v" ascii character in a binary file, the transfer will halt... I'm not sure if that's true but in any case I don't trust WS_FTP sftp to transfer my files properly anymore. |

| If you have an active service agreement, login to http://www.myipswitch.com and download the latest version of WS_FTP Professional. Other users have corrected this by installing v2007.1

| | This did NOT fix the iussue. We have an extended service agreement, so downloaded the latest update and applied this. After the reboot, nothing has changed. Our software is the correct version (2007.1), but our downloads with SSH still stop at 20,000 bytes, though they finish "successfully" despite the cutting the file short. |

| Please send in a support ticket or call into technical support so I can get you a copy of the 2007.0.0.2 to try and resolve the issue. Technical Support can be reached at by submitting a request at http://www.ipswitch.com/support/ws_ftp/email_support.asp or by calling 781-676-5700.

| | Hi - I did submit a request, and was sent a download link for the 2007.0.0.2 file. I cannot install this as we are currently running a later version (will not allow me), and I do not want to uninstall 2007.1, as this system has been built up over the past 4-5 years, and the people responsible have moved on. There is alot of configuration I cannot afford to lose. Does the hotfix not run against 2007.1? Shouldn't this latest version have the previous fixes included anyway? Is there a manual change I can make to a config file to allow 20KB+ file sizes in SSH? |

| You could perform an uninstall but leave the configuration information. Also, you could make backups of the config using http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/WS-19990212-CK01.htm. The hotfix will not install when 2007.1 is installed. Do you have a test machine where you could install 2007.0.0.2 to see if the same issue occurs?

| | Not with the same client-server access. I'll see what I can do on that front though. The version we initially had the problem with (original install) was the 2007.0.0.2 build, so I suspect the issue will persist with the download I grabbed. |

| | Any concrete solution so far? I am having the EXACT same problem.... Is it because of the SSH type of transfer? BTW, I am running: WS_FTP Pro 2007.1 - 2007.11.12 -- Tried on XP & Vista |
