Hi,

  Users are not able to logon to IM server .we are getting a error message "invalid account/password" .users are able to access mails with the same username & password .IM is configured to use imail server for authenticating(which is using SQL databse) . Both IM & Imail is installed in same server & SQL databse in other server. following are some lines SYS log

You will need to contact IPSwitch's support group if you just upgraded ICS to the latest version.  There is a bug in the user database for IMail and IM users.  The upgrade trashes out some of the user info that is needed for IM to work properly.  They were able to get my IM server working after they re-did something to the upgrade.

IM still has a way to go IMHO.  It's a little buggy for connectivity in general.  The client is too intrusive and often acts in ways that are a nusance to the user.  For instance, it should be able to login and disappear, just like the MS Windows IM (or MSN IM) client does.  And re-connects should be transparent also.  Every time the IM "hicups" it puts the main window in the way of work being done.  Very annoying.  Plus, I'm trying to make it where users don't have to mess with it, it just logs in and it's going without any interaction.  (currently they must minimize the window after login when booting their machine.  bad.)  And, if I ever need to restart the server service, it completely removes all users and the client will never ever try to reconnect without interaction.  Bad again.  IM should be 100% non-invasive to the desktop when instructed to do so, and work as task free as possible.  Or else it becomes a nusance rather than a help.
