| Is there any reason why emails would show up in a users IMIP folder? The user doesn't think he put them there. Is there an attachment type IMAIL looks for and automatically routes messages directly to the IMIP folder instead of the main mailbox?

| That folder is what the webcal sends invites to.

| But why would regular messages end up there? I'm not talking about invites.

| There are a number of ways that could happen: A domain or user level rule, a forward, an anti-spam action, direct send. Your SMTP logs would tell you whats happening.
