| First a description of what I'm doing:
We have our main WhatsUp machine and a second machine running sql server 2005 in one datacenter. Our operators use the web interface to monitor devices and hear web alarms when a device is down. We have a backup WhatsUp server and second server running sql server 2005 in another datacenter. I have setup replication for the WhatsUp database between the 2 sql servers. Each transaction on the main sql server is sent to the backup server within a few seconds. Currently, the polling service on the backup WhatsUp machine is disabled. The plan is to manually enable it if there is a problem with the main WhatsUp machine and/or sql server.
The problem:
During a test of the backup server (disabled polling on main WhatsUp, enabled on backup WhatsUp) everything seemed to work fine. Polling worked fine, all of the devices that had been added to the main server were available and being polled on the backup server. When testing the the web interface on the backup WhatsUp server a device went down. The problem is that, for some reason, it was not able to play the web alarm sound. The speaker icons next to the down devices on the web alarm popup showed a red circle with a line through it like it was muted and no sound played. If I type in the url directly to the sound file on the backup WhatsUp server it is accessible and able to play.
Anyone have any ideas what's going wrong? |
