| | I have quite a few Dell 2950s (dual and quad core Xeon). Windows report these as 5160 and X5355, but in WhatsUp they are "Unknown Processor Type". |

| I too have the 2950's as well and when I looked on our CPU utilization, I notice the Unknown Processor Type as well. We have the 2 x Dual Core Processors on each of our servers.

| | I added a Windows Server 2008 x64 machine to v12. It seems to have worked ok with counters, etc, however it does the unknown CPU thing as well. The 2008 is running inside an ESX VM. The OS sees an Intel Xeon 5460 running at 3.16ghz, but Whatsup v12 reports it as an unknown processor. |

| | Thanks for the information. Mick377 and seedosrun what type of Windows Operating system was WhatsUp installed on? Where in WhatsUp are you seeing the "Unkown Processor" text? Is it in CPU Device reports, CPU SSG content views, or WUG Web Performance Monitor? Ipswitch WUG Team SV |

| | WUG installed on 2003 x86. The Dell 2950s that report unknown processor have 2003 x64 (I don't have any x86 on these) I see the problem on CPU Utilization on both historical and SSG. It also shows on "Group CPU Utilization", "Top 10" and presumably anywhere else where the processor type is diplayed (ie normally "Intel"). |

| Hi Mick,
we get the CPU type from the host resource MIB. The object we poll with snmp is hrDeviceDescr (1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.2.1.3).
Could you poll your device with the MIB walker tool (from the web, click on GO -> Tools -> SNMP MIB Walker) for this OID and see what value it contains?
This is what I got for one of our Dell Server with 8 processors (see attachement).
Thanks,

| Thanks guys. I have reproduced the issue with processor identification on x64 machines and logged a defect. I'll keep you posted.

| We've investigated this one and for some reason this is the value being returned. You can check it out using the SNMP MIB Walker tool.
