The setup of CPU, Interface, Memory, Ping are all good, but for Disk I am surprised that by default only capacity is monitored. For 9 out of 10 of my servers the free space hardly changes and the utilisation of the disk is what would be of more interest.

I agree its important to monitor free space, and on a few servers it is handy to track the usage over time. But if you are trying to ensure servers are running optimally, there are other things that are more important. Read / Write in KB/Sec, Disk queue length, etc. I realise I can add any WMI counters I choose, but these will always be "Custom" and it would be easier if "out of the box". The "Exchange Monitor" does allow access to some of the counters.

Just thought worth mentioned, having the focus only on free space (by default) is quite different from the other products I have seen.

Mick377, you bring up good points.  Like you said, the support is there via WMI but I'll add an entry into our feature request tracking database.  We may be able to incorporate this into a future release.

Thanks for the feedback.

The current "Disk Utilization" performance monitor would be a lot more useful to me (and I am assuming others) if it monitored free disk space rather than percentage full. I have servers that have largish volumes that are 80-95% full with data that is fairly static. When you have a NAS/SAN you only allocate what you need and the idea isn't to have 20% slack volume space unless you have a large amount of growth.

I can create my own performance monitor for free disk space, but have to create one for C:, D:, ... Z:, etc, where the WhatsUp monitor can automatically can be configured to do all disks. I also don't know how I can integrate my custom monitors on the reports in Top10, Problem Areas, etc (eg show they show up as red, yellow, etc).

How hard would it be for the WhatsUp team to modify the "Disk Utilization" performance monitor so that when we hit configure we got a choice of A) Percentage Full or B) Free GBytes. For a perfect solution we would be able to configure the thresholds for Good, Warning, Critical on an individual server basis (eg for C: drive I might want > 3GB green, >  1GB yellow, < 1GB red, but on D: > 30GB green, > 10GB yellow, < 10GB red).

What do others think ? I find that with the current monitor I constantly have many volumes in red and yellow that do not require action and this prevents me from being alerted to real problems. I mostly rely on an active monitor that alerts me to less than 3GB free.
