We are looking for feedback on the Licensing and Activation process. The mechanism and process has changed for this version. If you have installed and attempted activation, please take time to answer the following questions:

1) Was the machine you were activating from behind a firewall, proxy server, content filter, or similar device?
If so, what type?

2) Were you able to successfully complete activation?
If not, what problem(s) did you have? Can you provide info on your environment and configuration?

3) Do you have any additional comments on the Licensing and Activation process?

The Server is located behind a Sonicwall Pro 2040 with content filtering enabled.

Yes the activation did complete (i believe) it does still tell me that my trial will end in 70 days. I assume this is the length of the preview, right?

3) Do you have any additional comments on the Licensing and Activation process?

seemed to be pretty good if my assumptions are correct

That is correct.   The software will cease to function (using that license) after May 1st.  You'll need to get a new license from Customer Service once v12 is released.

1) The machine was behind both a firewall and a proxy server. PIX Firewall with 80 and 443 open for traffic coming from proxy server. The proxy is a BlueCoat proxy with NTLM Authentication.

2) No. The activation sent me to the offline activation process which doesn't work yet (looks like it is still in development).

3) I was not prompted for credentials.

The activation process seemed to work ok for me!  I am on a standard network, no firewalls or anything like that.

I couldn't get out through ISA 2004 in proxy mode which sits infront of a Clavister Firewall Appliance.

The offline activation sent me to a ski resort homepage....?

Where do I send the license.ofa file to get it activated manually?

Cheers,

Simon.

Simon,

Please use the "Email" button to email the .ofa file to me. I will send you a license file back.

Thanks

1) We use Microsoft ISA 2006 Server and we make all network traffic go thru this device.

2) Activation was successful and I had no issues.  It just did it's thing.

3) I didn't have to do anything other than press the OK button.  Works great.

1) Firewall is an ASA5510 with AIP-SSM running V8.03 software

2) No problems with activation, worked first time, services restarted successfully with no issues

3) Nothing to add, worked without and problems

I have external firewall (Cisco ASA), internal firewall (ISA 2006), and inside proxy (Surf Control). I couldn't get activation to work via Surf Control and got sent to the ski resort when I tried offline, but I gather that isn't mean to work.

I added a rule to the firewalls to allow direct Internet access and could activate. My Surf Control proxy requires domain authenication (eg no anonymous) and I also tried another test proxy I have that allow anonymous, but this test proxy has GFI WebMonitor and also didn't work. It may have been possible to re-categorise or white list the sites on the proxy, but it was just as quick to give temporary no-proxy access.
