...are not always coming up as entered.  Lots of our users appear in Public Contacts as their Active Directory instead of their first and last name as entered into Public Contacts.

Yes. When users make some changes in options on the client side, their display name becomes their login.

The only work around I have found is to edit the registry on the server side and change entries for display names for each user that has this problem. Of course, if the user makes more changes, this change their display name again.
