No uid and xml files in 8.x. Never had much of a problem with this, but now that we're at 9.21, we get this...I usually have a main.~bx file I can delete and it works fine.

Do not delete any .~bx file unless it is more than an hour old. That is file in use that is updating the underlying .mbx file.

The fact that you are seeing this may indicate you are having problems with large files.

Does the user use Outlook connecting via IMAP to this account at any time?

The problem I was remembering appears to be specific to Outlook and connecting via IMAP, so unless they sometimes use Outlook as an IMAP client, that turns out to be a dead end.

While 8.05 is an old and unsupported version, lets try this. When is the last time before the problem started? Does the problem reoccur after you have copied all of the emails into a new folder? Can you pinpoint what type of email may have just been received when this problem occurs.

Here is an idea. Instruct the user that is having this problem to notifiy you as soon as it occurs. In the mean time, clear out the main.mbx file. As soon as it happens, make a copy of the main.mbx file and put it in a seperate temporary folder outside of users folders. Do that 3 times. Once you have 3 copies, open them with notepad and look at the bottom (or is it top) 5 messages. See if you can find a pattern.

I'm having the same problem - can't delete. And the support here really is bad. Have been waiting for them to log on and fix another issue for over a month now!
