| After working with whats up professional I have realized that a user guide would be a nice touch. The older versions were much easier to set up and use with the guides. These are good to show you how to configure things you did not know the program was capable of.
Thank you Mike |

| This is my biggest gripe at the moment.. I cross-graded from v8 to Pro and love the new look and feel.. however the manual that I got with the v8 media kit can just be thrown out the window.... The website is ok but is missing vast amounts of information at this time.. also the help within the app itself is pretty light and useless....... Come on guys at IPSwitch.. even a PDF file version for Pro would be fantastic.... it may even stop some of the complaining that seems to be going on within this forum
Lost in a sea of snmp..... |

| Hi,
I am not playing fair because I've been using Gold a lot in the past...
But, although Ipswitch definitely needs to provide a manual, I'd like to point out that a good 80% of WUP can be understood reading the Gold manual.
Of course there is some missing -or different- functionality in WUP (such as reporting, or the database system) but many concepts still remain, so Gold manual + WUP help file can drive you pretty far in the product.
Reading, writing and arithmetic - If you need to choose, please take option 1. |

| | I too am new to IPswitch products and would like to see a manual specifically for WUP. I have an agressive learning curve for new software due to understaffing at my work and time is of the essense, reading and cross referencing different manuals (in this case WUG 8) is not efficient |

| I must agree - i could have spent more time configuring & less time working things out! Its not that i don't mind working of course but IPSwitch seem to have put out the upgrade and not thought much about how & what their userbase would do to configure the product. Even a pdf pointing out some of the basics, like how to add web usernames would have been nice - and it would have saved me 10mins searching for the information. Its a shame to lose things like the GUI for adding web usernames & map access within the WUP GUI as that was very useful for me - having the ability to restrict multiple users to certain maps AND allowing them to change only those maps, so i wouldn't need to do it for them was great. I do like the interface though and like a lot of other network management software , WUP is based on "time down" and not the number of pings missed. It just about a "thumbs-down" I'm afraid - sorry guys - some useful features for me are gone and the lack of information leads me to believe that WUP has been "rushed out" to market a few months too soon..... |
