I didn't see a way but just wanted to check here to see if I'm missing something. I would like to schedule a maintenance even that will occur over the holidays and if I have all my dependencies set correctly should just be able to select one core device. Will I have to log on and manually set maintenance mode for this late night event?

while that would certainly work.. shouldn't a feature like this be implemented inside WUP?

Well, I don't agree. It will get some time to get used to it but having a backend database with everything configured in it is really COOL and a big improvement over what'sup gold.

True, you can ask ipswitch to add and add features to the gui itself. It is probably the easiest way to tweak the database the way you want to. But the positive thing about this DB is that you don't have to wait ! Just do whatever you want to, and your need might not suit other users so is it worth building this or that functionality into the gui ?

My personal opinion as you see is that WUP is a GREAT improvement over WUG. Sure, some things still have to be ironed out like up/down and permissions for web interface, and like many other people I just have this feeling that the product "popped up" from nowhere a bit too fast... But overall the product is MUCH richer without too much added complexity (and believe me, I worked a lot with openview and the likes and there is simply no comparison !)

Don't get me wrong. I think WUP is a great upgrade overall. I think it is faster and overall much better. However I think that much of the funtionality that people were used to in WUG was removed because IPSwitch thought that those features were either not important/needed or that there were other ways to do things. The fact is, people are requesting features all over the place. Some of those requests are corrections while others see the true potential of the product and are looking at ways to extend it.

The people looking for new features might be the only person in the boat asking for those things while other requests are pretty universal. The search field is something that has come up more than once along with the ability to make bulk changes in the GUI without having to go through the backend...

I think feature requests are great. They help direct the product into new areas. They also show IPSwitch how we use the product.

Hi,

Don't get me wrong as well ! Maybe my post sounded a bit rough... (Sorry but English is not my mother tongue so I do my best)... It's just that I see so many posts all around here basically saying "WUP is crap" and it's not my opinion, although indeed some stuff needs to be improved.

And yes, you're right, feature requests are nice, vendor needs feedback of course.

Rgds
