I have a strange problem with adduser.exe

I am running it remotely from another computer.  When I run the command

adduser.exe -h domain.com -k -u username

I sometimes get OK: User "username" removed from "domain.com".
While other times I get  ERR: Failed to remove user "username" from "domain.com".

I can't figure out what is causing the difference.  There doesn't seem to be any difference between a account that will delete and an account that won't delete.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
