Hi,

I am using Ipswitch WS FTP home

I have already uploaded my website. Once around three months ago and updated it just a couple of days ago.

I have checked all my settings and everything is filled in as it was before yet when I try to connect to ftp.btinternet.com I get a connect failure message.

I can't work out why I could connect a couple of days ago but can't now.

Any help would be most welcome

LynX

Thanks Paul.

I read the 'help' article. All my info is correct, it is the same as I filled in when I could connect last week. However I re-entered everything just in case and only to receive the 'connect failure' notice when I try.

Today (with exactly the same settings) I am receiving another notice when I try and connect

530-Login failed due to technical problems.

530-Please try again later.

Error reading response from server.

I think this must be a bt problem but haven't a clue what to do about it.

530 Error Message....

http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/WS-19980508-BK03.htm

So, I really would double and triple check the 'login' information (sometimes it is the little things that go unnoticed)...if it still does not work contact the 'host' for the exact info and try again....

I had a 530 a couple of times myself and I could have sworn I put in the right info but as it turned out I didn't (stupid spelling mistake)...

kind regards, Paul C. Beugeling

Connection Failure- WS_FTP Home
I, too, have the same problem. I have used WS_FTPLE for many years and have been using the new Home edition since about November. This connection problem began while still using the LE version although I had purchased the Home and hadn't taken time to learn to use it. Thinking my LE had corrupted, I began using the Home version. It, too, would not connect. For 2 months I could not upload. I tried everything. Online with my ISP who visited my home twice,Microsoft, Dell and bought 2 new Modems. I also had seen at one time an error message mentioning WINSOCK so I downloaded the WinsockXP Fix and ran it, thinking there was some corruption of the ftp linkage. I tried so many things. After letting it sit (and ignoring my 4 Rootsweb sites!) for a couple months, all of a sudden, it was working!
I uploaded a couple weeks ago just fine, but low and behold, it is not working again. I have not changed any settings- host, user ID, passwords, etc.are all correct. There is no firewall problems, auto reconnect is checked, auto detect, ftp server type, passive mode.
My Site Manager shows my 4 sites. When I click Connect and try to connect to any of the sites, the follow occurrs:
Computer Local Site shows just fine.
Remote Site shows the tab with my Folder Name. Everything on that side, except the tab name is BLANK! The drop-down box shows a yellow folder icon, but there is nothing to open.
After waiting about a minute, there is a CONNECTION ERROR message that says it is due to:
1. network connection down
2. host address incorrect (*I rechecked all and they all have correct host addy)
3. server attempting to connect to is not available. (*Someone else who uses Rootsweb checked for me with my pw and were able to connect)

The blank box shows a message that this can be filled with a Remote Connection by clicking this pane. The Site Manager pops up, but I'm back to the same screen with a tab name of my Remote and blank box and after waiting the Connection Error comes up again.
When I click on Details, I get this message:

Finding Host users.rootsweb.com ...
Connecting to 66.43.27.22:21
Connected to 66.43.27.22:21 in 0.000000 seconds, Waiting for Server Response
Error reading response from server.
Connection closed by remote host.
Host type (1): Automatic Detect

So.... What's up? Why does this occur? What should we do who can not upload our files due to the ftp not connecting to our Remote Site?
HELP!!
