Hi,

We have been waiting for 2006.2 for a while, due to slow logging in problems with 2006.1 and mailbox size display issues. But we are even more unhappy now!

We are having a few major problems as follows:

1) MAJOR! Existing mailboxes that worked on 2006.1 do not on 2006.2. The mails appear in the users mailbox but none of the content can be displayed in the preview window. If you open the message in a new window you get nothing, after waiting for 30secs for the message to be displayed. The only visible field is the subject line, the other fields are blank as well as the main body!!

Seems as if the existing .mbx files aren't compatibale with 2006.2, even ran the convert.exe but didn't hekp!

If you create a new users it is fine, but this isn't very helpful for people that are upgrading with thousands of users. We are only testing the upgrade with a handful of users!!

2) logging in time to a users mailbox with a just 5MB in their inbox is slower then 2006.1 - 63 seconds!!

3) Existing users mailbox size doesn't not get displayed in the usage box....did in 2006.1!!!

Only 3 issues so far...but pretty major!

If anyone can possibly give us some ideas as to why this is happening or why 2006.2 seems to break a working 2006.1 config then please do.

Our test config is very basic, a few customer domains and our main user domain with no more than 50 users. The version of 2006.1 was upgraded from Imail8.1 and worked fine apart from the slow login issues and the global mailbox size usage issue. 2006.2 can't even display existing emails!!

Help Ipswitch!!

This sounds like a permissions problem; you should contact Tech Support.

Hi Tripp,

Changed the NTFS permissions to more relaxed and it seems fine now! Weird how 2006.1 didn't have a problem with the permissions.

Thanks for the reply.

2006.1 used IMAP to access the mailbox files while 2006.2 directly addresses the files.  Since IMAP is running as a system service it had greater access to the file system (but overall was slower in the web client).

I am having the same problem with the mailboxes after a migration from 2006 to 2006.2. It only works if I create them, but not for those created in the previous version.
Please, can you tell me what permissions did you modify for webmessaging to work?
Thank you.

Alejandro

We just changed the NTFS permission to Everyone Full seemed to work. I'm sure you could tie it down more, depends on your setup I suppose.
