| To solve this issue you need to follow the steps below: - Open your mail client (Outlook Express)
- Go to Tools \ Accounts \ Select your main account properties.
- Select the servers tab.
- Toggle the box that say "My servers requires authentication".
- Click the settings box. Click on "logon using" button.
- Enter your email address in the account box.
- Enter your password. Check the box that says "Remember my password".
- Click Ok on all of the windows.
- Try sending and receiving.

| Agree with Dmitri. The reason is most possibly because you choose No Mail Relay as a Mail relay option. Certainly the best option but you need to have your mail client authenticate as Dmitri said.

| .. and you get this? 503 This mail server requires authentication. Please check your mail client settings. It says Mail client here! So, maybe I did not understand well, could you explain a bit in details where and when you get that message? Did you check the logs? PS Do you have a router? maybe a belkin? I looked up on internet someone that had a similar issue like you. In this case, it was a router issue. Some port forwarding issue. In that case, a firmware upgrade solved his problem. check out the article... never know, this could be indicative for you. It does mention an issue with port 80 in the router. And even if you do not have a Belkin, I would take a look at it! http://forums.devshed.com/archive/t-156295
