| | Mails, that marked as spam will not be delivered to the mailboxes. Instead of delivering, they stuck as A*.SMD and D*.SMD or T*.SMD files in spool dir. I updated the software from Version 2006.04 to 2006.1, but the problem is still the same. I wrote a script, that hourly renames the A*.SMD files to Q*.SMD. But that cannot be the way. Does someone know this problem? |

| "A" files are in the process of inspection by Anti-virus and renaming them (to D) is handled by the normal email handling processes. Apparently that did not finish for some of your files indicating some problem with the system. I'd disable Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam, for a short term test, and see if that gets mail going. Don't forget to restart SMTP and Queue Manager services after making the changes. Renaming them as you currently do, will cause delivery, but bypass the AV/AS process and I would not recommend this. "D" files are 1/2 of an email awaiting delivery. There should be a "Q" file with the same name and the pair mean a message awaiting delivery. Any "D" without a matching "Q" is a message that could not be delivered nor returned to the sender and can be deleted. "T" files indicated either an ongoing SMTP session or one that was terminated prematurely. These files can/should be deleted. All the spool files are plain text so use Notepad to view them, if you wish to get some idea of that they contain before deleting or deciding on other action. Is your Service Agreement, up to date? If you don't have one, it may be that the 1 year period of subscription to the AV/AS has expired and you no longer are getting valid updated for these services (disabling from above paragraph will bypass these services). This should not stop the normal processes of checking/delivery, just affect the content that passed in the email (a new virus could be missed because it is not in your library). Log files will tell more and are likely to give details... Daniel Donnelly |
