I'm running Imail 8.05 (yes, I know I need to upgrade...) yesterday and today, the smtp service has been stopping out of the blue for no apparent reason. While this would happen once a month in the past, yesterday it happened 15 times!

Anyone else having this problem all of a sudden?

On a second topic, what is the best procedure for upgrading to 8.13? Can I just run 8.13 against my 8.05 install???

Thanks for any feedback... Brian

This server is 8.05HF3,

Same problem, started at 8:11AM CST on 09/10/2004 after a system reboot, only changes made to the system were .net framework SP1 update and a few additions to the phrase list and URL domain black list. Copied the anti spam defaults over for two more domains clients that had recently requested antispam service.

System spec's:

AMD64,
8Hda5+ with raid 1 running on sata
1024MB DDR400 RAM
Spool is running on 80GB 7200rpm 8mb Drive

System was checked for hardware errors

I tried uninstalling .net alltogether that was not the issue so I have reinstalled it.

I'm going to try upgrading it to 8.13, but I don't see that this would be the problem as it was working fine up until this point.

anyone find a solution to this?

My guess is that the imail smtp just cannot handle the workload, as this is the only explanation for this in this situation because no other changes were made.

Same exact problem here.  SMTP Services started shutting down for no reason as of  9/10/2004 at  6:09:39 AM

Has anyone resolved this issue?  I keep having to go in a restart the services, probably 15 times over this past weekend.

RCND, what version and patch level are you on???

I have not found a solution, I'm simply letting the Windows Service Recovery Options restart the service when it fails. Keeps me from having to run down here in the middle of the night and restart it manually. When I tried the Imail Monitor, it seemed to be worse about stopping but that may or may not be the case...

8.05HF3 on Windows 2000 Server Dual Pentium 500 processors, 1 GB of Ram.

Imail was running smooth and out of the clear blue this started happening. No updates or changes to the server have occurred prior to this problem. One thing I did notice was that there was a new POP account created under one of the domains I host about 1 minute prior to the first time this started happening.

Thank you very much for your help.

-Brandon

Same problem here. Nothing has been changed on the box. SMTP just fails for no apparant reason. This just started happening a week ago.

same issue here.  Same version.  It started about a week ago.  The auto-recovery doesn't seem to fix it either.  No recent changes to the box have been made.

I'm actively searching for a solution.  As stated before as soon as I find one I will make the post.

Thanks,

Brandon
