In the begining of september 2005 we have updated an Imail server 7.3 with a crossguard to ICS 2.0.
If installation was easy, some problems occurs rapidly. In order to don't waste my time, i reused settings of Imail 7.3, importing registry keys for domains and users to the new version.
First, users was unable to send email with their mail client. The reason was that ICS by default has SMTP authentification (which is a good issue !). So every user has changed their settings with Outlook check box "server require authentification".
Good...

After this, using Imail web messaging, every mail sent was with an "Message delivery failed." error.
Searching in knowledge base i found :
Product: Version: Platform:
IMail 7.1+ NT,Win2000,XP,Win2003

Question/Problem: I can login to Web Messaging and read mail, but when I
compose an email and click 'Send', I get a "Message delivery failed."
error and the message does not get delivered. It seems to 'disappear'.

Answer/Solution: To send a message, Web Messaging uses the 'imail1.exe'
command line application located in the IMail program directory (usually
C:\IMail)
. If other files exist in the IMail directory that also have the
same 'imail1' filename (even if the file has no extension), Web Messaging
may not be able to find the application needed to send mail.

To resolve the issue, remove all files named 'imail1' (even if the file
has no extension) from the IMail directory (except for 'imail1.exe').

Good that's my problem. But none other file imail1 in directory.
I decided to send an inquiry to Ipswitch customer services. I'm still waiting their answer (!!), but have a look to the knowledge base article: IMail program directory (usually C:\IMail).
When i installed ICS the default pathname was : C:\Program Files\Ipswitch\Collaboration Suite.
So as i wrote to customer service, i suspect that Web messaging have trouble with long pathname.
I have duplicated the content of C:\Program Files\Ipswitch\Collaboration Suite directory under root directory, modified all registry keys and ini files with the new pathname...

And that works !!!!

So if you have the same problem and Imail installed in Programs Files, try this solutions, and if you have to install ICS, do it under root directory (which is not the default )
