Hi there ..

im having a problem with WUG and a service i you like to monitor.
The IOD is : 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.127.1.1.1.1.6.3
and the return of the IOD is : docsIfDownChannelPower.3=-19

the values of this result can variate so in my monitor-line in WUC
i have put -50 to 60 but it doesnt work.

Doesnt WUG understand negative numbers to monitor ?!?!?!

The debug says :
Checking 172.16.0.xxx : 00 : Downstream Power
SNMPMON [Downstream Power] OID:1.3.6.1.2.1.10.127.1.1.1.1.6.3 on IP:172.16.0.23
Check Complete (-1) 172.16.0.xxx : 00 : Downstream Power

plz dont tell me that WUG dont understand this

Martin

You should probably post this to the WUG Forum instead:

okey, did create a post in the other forum now but think maybe the problem exists in other versions also e.g. WUP

I can do a quick intall and test just to find out that it too also has problems

okey, just installed WhatUp Pro 2005 and it has the same problem too,
i cant handle negative values.

Now i can see that WS Ping ProPack also has problems with negative values

snmpget -c 172.16.0.30 .1.3.6.1.2.1.10.127.1.1.1.1.6.3
transmission.127.1.1.1.1.6.3 = -33

output from WS ping propack = 223

argh ... im getting crazy here, is this really a bug or ?

Range Check: Polled Value=-10, Low Value=-12, High Value=10
Polled value(-10) was not within range(-12 - 10).

hmm ... this i dont understand :-)

I believe you just encountered a defect with negative numbers in WUG that got fixed in the next version (WUP).
It had to do with wrong cast of signed and unsigned integers. It is actually visible in your example, 223 and 33 are 256's complement.

I would suggest you contact customer support to verify this.

Sebastien.

from the WUP support :

Hello,

Yes, it looks like this is a bug that currently is in our system. I don't have a timeline of when it will be fixed, unfortunately. I will try to get some additional information.
---

yep .. its a bug in WUP, crap ...
