You'll want to try reinstalling .Net. using this link:

This can be done one of two ways.

WARNING!!!!

************Make sure you read all of the steps before doing anything. You may want to collect some of the important info and write it down before you uninstall anything.*************

The 2 ways:

#1 - This probably won't work, but it's quick.

Go into Add/Remove Programs and uninstall .Net. If you have anything newer than .Net2.0, you'll want to uninstall them before 2.0, going backwards in order. ie, 3.0, 2.0SP1, 2.0

Once that is done, I suggest rebooting, then installing .Net using the above link.

#2 - this is the right way to do it, but takes longer.

Make a backup of your configuration. http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/FS-20070924-CM02.htm This is also covered in Chapter 13 of the Users guide on the support page of the website.

Go into Add/Remove Programs, remove the Ipswitch WS_FTP Server.

Assuming you are using Postgres, on the 2nd page, or the page that has 3 check boxes, leave them unchecked as you do not want to remove any of your existing configuration or the PG DB. You will reconnect to this later on during the reinstall.

Once you have it uninstalled, uninstall .Net, then reinstall it using the same steps as described in Way #1.

Once you have .Net reinstalled, reinstall WS_FTP Server. Hopefully you have the installer still saved on your computer somewhere, if not, go to www.myipswitch.com and log in and download it again. If you need help getting logged in there, contact CS and they can help with that.

During the install of WS_FTP Server, it will be much like your first install of the server with acouple of exceptions. These may not be in the order you get to them....

You will not be installing Postgres, you'll be connecting back to the same DB we left in place during the uninstall. You'll need to know the User ID and password you used on the first install. Hopefully you have that written down somewhere or memorized. The user name has an IPS_ added to the front of the name.

If you need to verify the name you should be using, you can try logging into the PGAdmin3 administration console. It's usually found in c:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\bin. You want to run the PGAdmin3.exe

In the top left, right click on the PostgreSQL Database Server 8.1 (localhost:5432) and select connect. You will get a popup window that asks for a password, you will note in the text on that window it lists the exact user name you need to connect to the DB with in the installer. You can also use the log in here to make sure that your password is correct.

You will be asked for the host name of the server, just put in the same host as your default that is already in the server, or it will make a new host in the DB and set it to the default, possibly causing other issues after you are back up and running.

If it asks you for the admin user to create, just use the same user you installed with, or it's going to add another user with the name you specify to the default host. If you don't want multiple System Admins floating around, this might not be ideal for you.

After all this is done, you should be back up and running with no more .Net issues.

I have been getting the following error a few times a day, this seems to be stopping the WSFTP service on the server, (w2003)

I then look at the services screen with in the GUI
Ipswitch WS_FTP Server is off all others are on... I restart the service and it is fine for a while .

I also notive this error in the windows event log

EventType clr20r3, P1 iftpsvc.exe, P2 6.0.2718.2276, P3 466ce898, P4 mscorlib, P5 2.0.0.0, P6 471ebc5b, P7 3404, P8 26d, P9 system.io.ioexception, P10 NIL.

Any suggestions?
