Look in your router's manual for "port forwarding." On my FTP server at home for instance, I have my LinkSys router forward port 21 and ports 4000-5000 to my home FTP server's LAN IP address, 192.168.0.102. On my FTP server, I listen on port 21 as normal, but limit data channels to ports 4000-5000 (look under "Firewall settings" in WS_FTP Server). Thus, connecting to ports 21 or 4000-5000 on my router's outward-facing IP address forwards to my FTP server, even though my FTP server is not otherwise reachable by the outside world.

RE: Server behind Network?

"Furthermore, you must specify a range of ports to use for data transfers and forward those ports and specify that data port range in WS_FTP Server."

can you elaborate on this procedure?

thanks,

yan

RE: Server behind Network?

Do the computers on your network have locally assigned IP addresses (that is, is your 98SE machine running a DHCP server), or are you assigned individual IP addresses for each computer from your remote DSL connection?

If the network PC's use locally assigned IP addresses, then you must forward the FTP port (21) on the computer acting as the router to the computer on the LAN running WS_FTP Server. Furthermore, you must specify a range of ports to use for data transfers and forward those ports and specify that data port range in WS_FTP Server.

Server behind Network?

Hello,

I have a small network where 10 pc´s connect to the internet throught the Internet connection of a W98SE pc.
