Scheduler stuck on first task pending

I cannot get the scheduler to work.

It accepts all data OK (incl W2k password and 5 min frequency), then dispays next scheduled time and status 'pending', but never does anything.

Windows task scheduler is up and running OK.

Only thing I can think of is that I don't actually have or use a W2K passsword.

Importing SSH Keys

I have a key pair that I created using PuTTY keygen, and I need these keys to access a site that I have been using other sFTP programs with. How can I import these keys into WS_FTP Pro? It is a real pain to generate new keys in WS_FTP and to get the server that I access to change the SSH Keys. (Corporate Red Tape)

Automate PGP decryption and pass phrase entry

I want to be able to write a script that will connect to a server to retrieve an encrypted file. I want it to decrypt the file without expecting manual entry of the pass phrase. Initially, the file wasn't being decrypted but I soon found out that if I renamed it to include the .pgp extension, then it would try to decrypt but it gets stuck when it's waiting on the pass phrase. When I created the key pair, I did not elect to save the pass phrase. If I had, would it have worked? Is this the only way it will work or can I supply the pass phrase in the script? How can I go back and 'save' the pass phrase if it can't be included in the script?

WsFtp Pro no longer runs with XP Service Pack 3!

Since installing Windows XP Pro service pack 3, WsFtp does not start!
After the splash screen a prompter appears with title "WS_FTP" and the great message "Never" (see attachment). The splash screen stays put and nothing else happens.
I deinstalled wsftp. I deleted all registry entries. I then downloaded and installed the newest file called wsftp_20071_SNWSB-E000455518.exe but to no avail!

What might be the problem?

What else do I have to do to get WsFtp working again?

deleting exchanged sftp key

Hi there,

I've installed WS FTP Pro 2007 on two users computer. After configuring the firewall, it seems to be working fine now. They can connect to a sftp site and transfer files. There's just one problem, that I'm trying to fix.

The users are not able to connect to the sftp site from their own computer. If they log into each other's computer and then they can connect to sftp site. I was recommended to delete the exchanged sftp key.

Could you tell me where ws ftp pro saves these exchanged key? Do you have any other suggestions? Please let me know if you need more information. Thanks

Moving OpenPGP keys to another computer

I am installing the product on another computer and would like to know the best way to move private and public keys to this other computer. Is it best to export the keys and then import on the other computer (including my private key) or should I copy the .pkr and .skr files to this other computer? What about the pass phase? Will it get exported with my private key? If I elect to copy the .skr file, is the pass phrase stored as part of this file? What about the passphrase.ini file. What is it's purpose.

File Transfer Mode Access and Extentions Issue

With the old wsftp you could always see what mode the files were transferring in and how it was set if it was Auto, Ascii, or Binary and could change it in a heartbeat.

This new version it is very difficult to even find a setting and then it only allows start up config.

Is there a way to gain efficient, manual control and visual verification to transfer mode?

Sometimes auto is fine with me other times not at all fine and I don't have time to fiddle around with mass dialog boxes just to change upload settings.

Also, do I have to add extensions for every new connection or can I import them to new site connections or are they inherited or what? I added a bunch of extensions to one site but another one I added the extensions are blank again. and

Hello,

I've installed WS_FTP pro 2007.1 on one of our server. I cannot get the application to launch in terminal service mode.

Couple of dialogue boxes appear witn "Never!" on it and when I click OK, the screen freezes in the splash screen.

Any help would be appreciated.

How do you encrypt/decrypt files to be transferred within a script? I see no commands specific to the function.

If the site is defined to use encryption, will scripts using the site be automatically encrypted/decrypted? What output of signature validation is available?

WSFTP Pro painfully slow to load

I have Pro 2007 on a Windows XP (home) computer with plenty of memory. The program can take a minute or two before it opens. It will give me a (Not Responding) message at the top and just hang there. Then after what seems like an indeterminable time, it will open. Once it opens, it works perfectly. But it can be annoying waiting for a long time before I can work. I had this problem with the last version as well. I have installed the program on my laptop and it has the same problem. I've searched the board for advice and find it hard to believe that I am the only one who has this problem. Anyone have any ideas on this?

They upload fine with the old version.

It is a new install. I think it worked for a while in the beginning but not sure.

Synchronisation Utility Stopped Working

The Synchronisation Utility no longer works for me. It just suddenly quit working. When I click the button, nothing happens now. Similarly, if I try to add a new synchronize task, at the end of the wizard no Synchronise Utility dialog box opens.

When using NT Scheduler to run a WS_FTP script the site profile can't be found and therefore the connection fails. Does anyone know where to define the location of the site profile so that the script run by NT Scheduler can find it? The user name with permission to run the NT Scheduler has the WS_FTP site profile located in the documents and settings/user/ipswitch etc. folder.

Moving from one comp to another

LOG file opened and not declared in script

Logging trouble under WSFTP Pro 2007

I have a script that worked great on WSFTP 8 - it included the ability to stop logging mid script and open a new trace file with a different name depending on which label section the script is on. i.e. start with LOG ftplog.log then depending on step results do LOG OFF, LOG ftperror.log.

I found that version 8 would log only those sections between LOG ftplog.log and ending with LOG OFF, but having mulitiple LOG commands under version 2007 causes each log file to be created with no data even though the progression of the steps turns the first log off before opening the second one.

This script in question (under version 8) runs hourly and would close the log, perform a shell command that would copy the log file to a different directory with a date stamp and perform a follow up shell command that deleted the log file (I found that unchecked these log files grow to unmanageable sizes and to create a script with logging capabilities that can run for months without human intervention there needs to be a log file size limit or a scripted procedure to clean out old hourly logs).

Example of what used to work:

log test.log

lcd c:\winnt

log off

log test2.log

lcd c:\winnt

log off

This small script under version 8 would create both log files with actual data of the steps in between creation and log off - under version 2007 it creates both files with a file length of zero. If you remove the log off commands this will create only test2.log showing all 4 lines of steps.

Anyone know of a way to limit the log file size or close the log in order to use a shell command to delete it?

Can't install WS-FTP Pro on Vista PC

Hi, I'm trying to install WS-FTP on my Windows Vista machine.

However, while the files are being copied it suddenly crashes with the following message...

Feature: ProRel

File: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\

Error: The system cannot find the path specified

I'd like to stay with WS-FTP PRo if I can but if I can't instagll it then I'll have no option but to go elsewhere.

Anybody got any ideas?

Running As User in Vista

I am wondering if anyone has gotten WSFTP Pro 2007.1 to run as a user in Vista. Any user with administrative rights works fine, but if someone with only user level access tries to run the program, it freezes.

I ran the application compatibility toolkit to find what its trying to access that requires admin priveleges and it returned the program directory and two registry keys for internet explorer that its trying to write to. I cleared up the program directory, but giving access to the IE keys in the registry to users is a bit tricky.

Anyone have experience with this?

WS_FTP will not run via scheduling tool when machine is logged off

I have a script created with the ftpscrpt command line tool. I am using a 3rd party scheduling tool (OP Schedule) to initiate the script. This runs fine when the machine which has WS_FTP installed is logged on, but when we log off the machine and initiate it again, the FTP fails. Error is...

Feature Request - openpgp command in script, commandline and local site

I was hoping I could create a local site and use openpgp mode but the option isn't available. Also, there is no decrypt or encrypt command in scripting or command line. Adding openpgp commands to scripting and command line would allow more control over openpgp.

I need to be able to download an encrypted file and decrypt it only when another application requests the import and then immediately delete the decrypted copy.

The command line would work perfect if it had a decrypt and encrypt command. Local Site definitions do not have the openpgp mode so I couldn't do a workaround by defining a separate openpgp mode site and using it to do the decryption.

Files Deleted from server on transfer

Apologies if this as been answered someplace but a search revealed nothing.

I have noted a behaviour when transferring files from a remote server to local machine, basically, the files are not downloaded straight into the assigned directory but rather seem to be held in a cache or temporary holding folder someplace until all files are downloaded - and then transferred (copied?) to the final destination.

This isn't usually an issue when small #'s of files are downloaded from the server but I frequently have to download large #'s of large size files and this is causing issues.

Last night durring a transfer from remote to local of ~65MB of data the system froze and needed to be rebooted - Image my horror when I went back into the clients site and all the files I had been downloading had disapeared from his server.

Sorry to ramble - but its important stuff... Here are the questions.

1) Since the files never made it to the intended directory - were will they be held on my local machine??? (winXP)

2) Is it possible to just download and place files into the intended folder without all the cache/temp folder stuff.

3) Is this a known issue?

I would realy like/need to recover the files and welcome any and all replies/advice.

Download from SFTP server stops after 20k

Hello All - We are using to WS_FTP to connect to a VAN over SFTP to download some files (the files are binary). The file size is about 8MB, but the download always stops at 20K. I've used another client (WinSCP) to connect to the same SFTP server, and the download completes just fine. Is there some sort of setting that I need to change to stop this from happening? Is there a firewall issue preventing WS_FTP to keep it's data connection open up long enough to download the complete file?

Using HTTP via non-standard port

I'm trying to put a file with HTTP protocol to a server listening on a non-standard port. I'm using WS_FTP Pro 2007.1.

I defined a WS_FTP Site (named MY_HTTP_test) with the URL, type HTTP, port 446, and initial directory "/foo/bar", no ID or password.

The connection fails, and the log indicates it was attempting to connect to port 443.

Any idea how to get the script to point at the right port (in this case, 446)?

deleting files within script

I am having difficulties with a download and delete script

I am able to download the files, I then use a directory listing (dir /b) to call another script which will delete the files one by one

The problem I have is that I get a file not found error

del filename.txt

removing remote file filename.txt

file not found

failure in command del filename.txt

If I use mget *.* then mdelete *.* I get a file not found error but I get the error for each filename - so it must be finding them somewhere

using rdel filename.txt I get

removing remote file "outbound/filename.txt/filename.txt"

file not found

removing remote directory "outbound/filename.txt

permission denied

If I use the synchronisation tool the files are seen as new files on every transfer so I can't use this

If I delete the file in the ftp gui the file is deleted so there is not a permissions issue

Is there any way I can transfer all of the files from a remote server and then remove them from the remote server

WSFTP Pro 2007 Failed to Connect To Destination Error

Am new to WSFTP 2007. Ran the schedule wizard and connected to source and destination.

Source is associated with a SSH FTP Site.

Destination is associated with a directory on the local host.

The log indicates the connection and transfer occurs however upon checking the destination directory, no file. The log indicates a Fail to Connect to Destination Error.

The 2007 hotfix was installed tonight and the result is unchanged. It is urgent that we get this working preferably using the wizard since an Operations person will be managing the recurring scheduled data transfers.

Please advise.

Open PGP - Cannot Stop It from attempting to decrypt inbound files

HELP - wsftp support cannot help me, maybe you can.

When i call a wsftp script using "ftpscrpt.com" that logs on using the CONNECT, USER and PASS commands from a file router service that i have running and download an encrypted file the script blows up with a PGHP error telling me that Open PGP cannot decrypt my file!!! I DO NOT WANT wsftp to decrypt stuff outside of the firewall, but it decided that i would like to and then fails because i have no keys on my keyring!

I have turned off Open PGP within the WSFTP Pro User Interface (tools/options/etc...) and i do not use an established profile (Site Name) in the CONNECT command.

How can I Stop WSFTP from trying to decrypt my inbound files?? please help, WSFTP Support suggested I use a defined "SITE" but when i create a site and use the site name in the CONNECT command i get another error that "Address lookup of "Site_Name" failed.:crying:

any help in suppressing OpenPGP when using ftpscrpt.com would be greatly appreciated. I'll buy dinner if you can correct it. Thanks!... Jennifer

What connect string do I need to use to connect to an FTP server over SSL/TLS (implicit encryption). I know that when I connect to one using auth-ssli use

CONNECT ftp-authssl://'servername'

Command Line -w not working with configured sites

I am using WS_FTP Professional 2007 (2007.0.0.2). I am attempting to use a configured site, but include the -w flag in the command line to override the password stored in the configured site. This does not seem to work. Are the -u (user) and -w (password) arguments supposed to work with configured sites? If so, they don't seem to be. If they are not, should they work if the site is explictly defined in the -d (destination)?

why doesnt the ws_ftp script return the time stamp next to lines in log or trace file... and how would put into the log or trace file..... is there way... so I know when something occured in the log file...
