so this will not replace a regular ftp client - it's just an add-on for the ws_ftp server product. ==KG> Yes, that is correct. This is a "thin" client that is an add-on to WS_FTP Server, and definitely not a replacement to the higher end WS_FTP Professional. ==:cool: This is a good feature to tack on to the product.

2. Upload progress?
When I am uploading a file (fyi - i'm using ie6) there is a little circle that looks like it would pulse around and show that there is progress being made, but it never moves around - is that a static icon or should it be circling around? Also, there has been hints that there is a progress bar - can you specify where that is?

3. File Size?
I tried uploading a 70 MB file and it did not fail I'm supposing until it hit the upload size limit. For the end-user, it would be better to know that they've exceeded the upload limit BEFORE the upload even starts.
==KG> So we have implemented changes that now, in real-time, while transferring, check the chunk sizes and compare to what's available. The browser still can't gain local file system access so the transfer will start and we'll stop the transfer when we calcuate that it will exceed your disk quota. ==:cool: Perhaps there is a way to state on the upload page what the actual upload limit is so that people are aware before they actually upload something, if you cannot interactively see what the file size is before starting the move?

1. replacement for full client?
The biggest thing that I see is it's kind of restricted - can you connect to any other FTP server using the same web interface? Or is this just a web interface for the one FTP server? ==KG> Yes, that is correct, it wil only connect to WS_FTP Server with SSH. The web interface is "served up" by the server and hence you have to connect to WS_FTP Server with SSH. All the quota limits, rules, home folder, etc. info is tied into WS_FTP Server. You create the user once for FTP/SSH access then turn on HTTPS access. ==:cool: so this will not replace a regular ftp client - it's just an add-on for the ws_ftp server product.

==KG> Good point. Being 100% web based, we don't have access to the local file system to gauge the file size in order to block it. I will check and see if there's anything we can do about this. ==:cool: That would be very useful - even if after you've already submitted your upload, if there is a way to see what the total file upload size will be that would be an improvement.

Other than that - it's a good idea because there is nothing to install on the client, and it's fairly easy to move around in the file structure.
