Download with a HTTP link possible?

Is it possible to have a recipient download files using a single HTTP/S URL instead of logging on the the Web-addon and selecting a file for download?

Web Client Functionality

Hi,

I uploaded some files and when I tried to select them to move/copy them to a subfolder I was not able.

We would need click and drag functionality.

Also was not able to view my files on the web client.

Review:
+ Looks nice and simple
+ Not too much Java-Script
- The Icons could be arranges in another order (See attached Image)
- No Upload Progress bar
- No notification when you upload more the one file (“filexy.z” is uploaded!)
- Maximum Allowed Upload Size (Is there a maximum? Can you change it? Where?)
- Where can you see Welcome Messages or Quotalimits?

Browser Compatibility:
- IE 7 (7.0.6000.16575) Upload icon not animated
+ Firefox 2.0.0.12 (works fine)
- Safari (3.0.4) Upload icon not animated
- Safari (3.0.4) Upload Interface does look strage (See attached Image)
- Sometimes you can't change the directory (dont know in which situations) Logout - Login - and it works again.

Suggestions / Wishes:
- Upload Progress bar (Many Clients upload large Files - Up to 1GB)
- Maybe a download button in front of every file
- Help - Upload Files - Enable Popup (No Popups -> No Downloads)
- Add welcome message - quota limit information
- Maybe "Simple login mode": Just a "Text-String" insted of Loginname and Passwort

WS-FTP server (updated version) errors

I have encountered the following errors:

Error #1 - Tried to upload wsftp2007.1_EVAL_English_Sprint4_Bld33.exe (11 meg) but was not completed succesfully. Only 1.5 meg got transfered and lost my connection.( I.E. 6)

Error #2 - Tried to delete file... got message delete failure (see attachment)

Error #3 - Tried to rename file... got message rename failure(see attachment)

Error #4 - Tried to rename folder... got message rename failure(see attachment)

Has an estimated release date been determined for the next step for a client installation of the technical preview and/or the final product? Assuming this will be a separate add-on for existing IPSwitch FTP Server products any idea on estimated costs and will this potentially be included in any maintenance agreements?

Web client in French ?

As a department of the Canadian gov, we must provide software in both official language. Will the web client be available in French at the same time the English version is released ?

Zero size files, and files that already exist

Uploaded a zero size file, and discovered that you cannot do so.

I also uploaded a file that already existed, without selecting the overwrite box. The browser hung for quite some time, as if the server was uploading the entire file and then doing a compare. Not sure if there is a way to do a MD5 hash of the file prior to uploading it.

Web Client Customizations

Is there a way to customize the web client interface to:

1 - Add or delete functionality based on user ID - for instance - take away or mask the delete button so clients can not delete files or directories

2 - Display Company logo

3 - Display disclaimers and instuctions for clients

4 add additional pages or 'clients' - for instance have different pages on different ports for different companies

5 Add 'view file' functionality to open text files in the browser rather than having to download locally

A couple of things:

1. replacement for full client?
The biggest thing that I see is it's kind of restricted - can you connect to any other FTP server using the same web interface? Or is this just a web interface for the one FTP server?

2. Upload progress?
When I am uploading a file (fyi - i'm using ie6) there is a little circle that looks like it would pulse around and show that there is progress being made, but it never moves around - is that a static icon or should it be circling around? Also, there has been hints that there is a progress bar - can you specify where that is?

3. File Size?
I tried uploading a 70 MB file and it did not fail I'm supposing until it hit the upload size limit. For the end-user, it would be better to know that they've exceeded the upload limit BEFORE the upload even starts.

Other than that - it's a good idea because there is nothing to install on the client, and it's fairly easy to move around in the file structure.

Can I connect over HTTPS?

Hello all,

If you want to connect securely, use the same address but with HTTPS and accept the certificate. No special download or plugin is required beyond the certificate exchange.

So, instead of http://tpp.wsftp.com/thinclient/login.aspx use https://tpp.wsftp.com/thinclient/login.aspx

First Observations

1) Lack of valid progress bar.

2) Got error of 'Exceeded upload limits' It was only a 140meg tif file. Thanks for not setting this bar too high - a 3gig file was next! :) The problem with this message is that it did so after churning through the upload sequence until the limit was hit (or some interminable setting since there was no way to see real progress). There should be some validation code in the transfer mechanism that checks against limits/permissions before the transfer gets underway. I would've been pissed if this happened over a slow wireless connection.

3) Tried to download a file and IE7 went to a 'no connection' state. No unable to even hit the TPP login screen. Closed out inactive tab and reconnected. Login still not validated 30 sec later.

Trying to download a file ifs_Server61_SSH.exe 35,540 kb for the past 15min and still downloading. I also notice that:

Their is no status bar to tell me % completion or estimated time remaining.

Their is no cancel transfer button

After failed transfer, I am stuck in sub folder. I have tryed the "Home" and "UP" button but unable to change folder. I also tryed to type in the root folder then pressing the "GO" button with the same results.

1) No progress indicator on file upload
2) Does not confirm filename or any info of file being uploaded

3) Upload seems slow. ( Using 100Mb Fiber connection to Internet )

4) Upload FAILED with NO ERROR: upload of 50MB file failed at 32.47 mb with no error just back to the login screen
==KG> Sounds like this is related to the slow upload and maybe it timed out. Were you able to log backin?

5) Download FAILED .... just flashed and then nothing......

Welcome to the WS_FTPServer and WS_FTP Server Web Client Technical Preview Program.

The TPP program allows participants to be among the first to try our new products and provide feedback on upcoming releases of WS_FTP Server. This TPP is a little different than past ones in that Ipswitch will be hosting the server and providing you with credentials to login and use the application. In subsequent months, the TPP will be expanded to allow you to download and install the application, but for now, Ipswitch will be hosting the server.

What's New?
We're excited to introduce the new WS_FTP Server Web Client, a web-based version of our top selling WS_FTP client. The WS_FTP Server Web Client runs on major operating systems (Windows, Mac, Unix, Linux) and browsers including Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Firefox, Safari and more.
