Unless you're running LDAP, no. That data is now stored in LDAP but I like the idea of bringing it back w/out LDAP.

Can user update their personal attributes such as address, department, phone number in upcoming IMail 10.

This is a good features in earlier IMail 8 but it has been removed in IMail 2006.

I'm already registerd and have downloaded 10.0.

Already have the KEY and the link listed in the key e-mail.

When I click on the link provided in the e-mail, the file version that's downloaded via the link is named IMail-10.0-Preview.exe. Is that the most recent version, 10.3, that downloads - in spite of the file name?

You'll need to register for the Technical Preview by following this link: http://license.ipswitch.com/TechnicalPreviewProgram/IMail.aspx

This is required because you'll need a serial number to install the evaluation version.

If you've already registered for the Technical Preview Program, click on the link in your original email notification.

For the user database, we don't have a default database type. That's up to the admin to decide which database to use. We supply functionality for odbc access to whatever type of database is configured in the ODBC settings.

For the contact database, we use the WorkgroupShare database by default, which is an Access database. Since the WorkgroupShare database defaults to Access, we do the same. WorkgroupShare does support a SQL Server database as an alternative.

Thanks for the reply. Out of curiosity, why don't you convert away from Access to something like MySQL or SQL Server Express?

Hi Bruce,

I would recommend reading through the release notes for what is new in IMail 10.0. There are details about the new MailDir message storage in there that you may need. Other than that, you should be ready to install.

Note: We would recommend, at least for the early Preview versions, that you do not install on a production server. We are introducing an optional mail storage format that will introduce additional risk in a Preview release.
