IClient Login Error

I keep getting this error when trying to login to IClient. IAdmin works just fine.

Antispam

I,d be greatfull for some help whit the antispam settings.
I've upadeted my anispam configurations and i set the antispam to mark spamed mails whit [spam], but it doesn't work. I've sent lots of test mails whit the word "viagra" and none was marked whit [spam].
How can i make it block spam mails?

Today we had a user that could not send emails. when we looked in the log file it said that they where banned due to possible hacking attempt. We have restarted the server and even white listed the remote computers IP address. Still no mail can be sent or received by this computer.

Anyone out there ever run into this? any fix?

We have some folks that when sending an email to a "mix.wvnet.edu" address it will sometimes go thru and other times it comes back as undeliverable and haven't been able to find out what the problem is.

Web Calendar

I am new to imail and have setup two shared calendars in public folders. Both calendars are at the parent level. I can see and modify these two calendars along with the shared contact list that I created when I am in Outllook but cannot see the calendars in the web environment. I can however see the contact list. The imail software was already installed on our e-mail server when I started this position. I did have to install the client portion on my desktop. Is there something that could have been missed when the software was installed or did I miss something when I set up the calendars?

Symantec Scan Engine administrator interface

Hi there,

we just upgraded to latest Symantec Scan Engine Version. Everything seems to work fine but it's not possible to load the administrator interface. The Applet seems to hang? We are using the recommended Java 5 VM packed in the installation bundle. On other clients with Java 6 VM the administrator interface says: "To view Symantec Scan Engine administrator interface, please install Java Runtime Enviornment(JRE) 5.0 Update 6 or later."

... any clues?

Well I've been going at this for a couple weeks now. I've run out of ideas, so I am asking you guys. I searched for a couple days on this forum looking for something even remotely similar to the same problem, I came up empty handed.

After I installed 2006.1 I was getting this error: *see attachment*.

I would have reverted back to my previous install if I had come across it earlier, but it wasn't noticed until pointed out by a client a couple weeks later.

The error in the left pane of the screenshot says this exactly:

Things I've tried to do to fix this:

-Researched error and came up with it being a 'not enough access' problem, so I messed with permissions and ended up giving full privileges to IUSR_ account and ASPNET account on entire IMAIL directory.
-Re-install 2006.1 ontop of existing installation.

If anyone has any other suggestions feel free to enlighten me.
Is it possible to reinstall an older version of ICS if I already have 2006.1 on there?

Any help at all is appreciated.

User cant send mail with attachment (PDF)

Dear all, I have this weird problem in which my users is not able to send pdf attachment using outlook. I used to run IMail ver 8.21 but has since reinstalled to ver 9.22.

All other attachment is able to send to recipients except for pdf. Is there any setting that i miss?

I have few clients running on different version of IMail and none has reported such error. I am reallly at a loss now.

AntiSpam Service Not Starting

Hello,

We just installed a new Imail Premium server with the latest installer download from the IPSwitch website and the AntiSpam service will not start. We are running Server 2003 Std RC2. All other services are running. I have tried a repair install, and also removing and re adding the AntiSpam part. Always the same result.

When I try and manually start the starengineservice service from with the services.msc - it will not start, and there is no error posted anywhere. The starengine/data and logging folder remain empty.

Any help would be appreciated.

Changing from SQL til Imail User database

We "upgraded" to colaboration suite 2006 a couple of years ago, and immediately ran into a bunch of problems, mostly regarding the well know ODBC problem making users unable to connect to POP3, log into webmail, send mail and mail not beeing delivered because Imail can't find the users as the database connection is broken.

There has always been a lot of hazzle and problems when upgrading Imail products, and therefore we do not dare making any upgrades on our systems at all anymore (we have three running Imail servers, and have bought servers and service agreements 7 times.

We granted Ipswitch full access to our server, but they came up with a lot of bullshit solutions that was a total waste of time, and they closed the ticket although we've made it completely clear to them that they have not solved anything. Now we have an expired service agreement, and even though some help from Ipswitch would be nice, they've already proven to us that their service agreement isn't worth anything. I'd rather hire a monkey.

Anyways; due to the massive problems we've had, we now want to move our users away from SQL and in to the Imail database, hoping that this will solve the connection problems. But when we change the database, all users dissapear from the domain (of course). We add all users manually again, and everything seems to be working fine - BUT - if we add new users to the domains we've moved to the Imail database, the new users are able to log on to webmail, but new mail are not delivered to their mailbox, the user won't be able to send mail from webmail (authorization failure), and he can't connect using POP3.

It seems like the user is created in the Imail database, but the SMTP and POP3 services tries to look up the user using the old SQL connection. How can I solve this?

And also - is there any fast and easy way to move all users and all domains from SQL to Imail database? I have to move several hundred domains and probably 10.000 users, and I reeeeaaally do not want to do this manually.

I also would like to use this opportunity to express how dissapointed I've become with Ipswitch. For years they delivered stable and solid products, and then ICS 2006 came along with a lot of problems. Ipswitch just closed their eyes and stopped concerning about their customers. We're no longer considering Ipswitch for new servers, and our latest server was delivered by Merak.

When I read this piece of support I am wondering why the ability to change these settings are not accomodated into Iadmin. Why to hack the register? And read.. It has to be a Prime Number, so I had to find a web site which was hopefully correct about the prime numbers :S

Question: We have a server that its primary role is sending large amounts of outbound mail and can have over 100,000 messages hit it quickly. Are there any tweaks that we can make to improve performance of IMail?

Answer: Perform the following steps:

1.) Increase the queue manager threads from 30 to 200 so the queue manager can spend most of it's time sending mail.
2.) Increase the Hash table size for the Queue manager. The queue manager uses internal lists and maps to keep track of the files. In the default install, it is optimized for having 10,000 messages in the spool directory. Since you may be flooding mail to the server, increase the hash size so the queue manager can perform optimally.

To change the Hash table size you'll need to make a change in the registry.
Open the registry and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\QUEUEMGR\Parameters. Select the DWORD value QHashSize and select modify. Switch the base to Decimal and then enter a value that is 20% larger than the maximum number of messages you think will be spooled. NOTE: This value must be a PRIME NUMBER.

Peer server in skip list?

I have configured two server with ICS 2006.1 peering enabled, the server have same alias, different AD databases, different dmz, ip address of peer server in hosts file on each server, in peer sever list, all is configured according indications in Ipswitch but sometimes servers lost connection checked network path with no errors found in firewall, no error in communication with AD domain controllers, checked dns but sometimes the servers cannot validate user and cannot deliver the messages from one server the other just keeps retrying but after the max retries it return the mail as undeliverable in the form user@domain@peer_server_ip_address.
Sometimes the peer server appears in the skip list and we don´t know why.

Scan Engine Update License

Is it true that even after buying premium anti-spam we also have to buy an update license just to update the definitions? I had iMail secure which got changed to whatever they call the new one and it included the Premium Spam Installer. I installed it and obtained the license key, installed that, but it says that there is no virus definitions update license key. Do I really have to pay more and get this now?
Or maybe I should uninstall and go to BitDefender? If so, how do I change it? Thanks.

ICS 2006.2 WGS Hangs

I've got a situation, running the latest WGS where it will hang randomly. The log files show business as usual, but on this Windows 2000 Server box with all the updates at least once a day it will hang. When it does, stopping the service doesn't help either I actually have to kill the process then restart the service.

Any ideas?

Calendars Won't Show In Outlook 2007

We are running version 2.1.4 of the IPSwictch Workgroup Share. We are having problems of the calendars showing up into Outlook 2007. The client will sync with no errors during the sync we can see reminders pop up but no calendars will show up. We tried reinstalling workgroup share, stop and started the service on the server end (sometimes fixes it) any help would be appreciated as we are getting ready to upgrade the entire campus to Office 2007 very soon.

I got a confused question, recently Queue manager always in "Stop pending, even I tried to stop/restart, there is no response, I had to restart the computer.

I got the following message as below,

iMail - Webclient

I have found a problem with using iMail 2006.21 on Mac OSX computers with Safari & Firefox. If you click inside the search window and hit "Return" or "Enter" you are asked if you want to delete ALL the messages in the folder that you are in. This is a major issue. Hitting "Return" or "Enter" should activate the search not delete files. The search works fine if you click on the find icon.

Also there is no "Mark as Read" (works on PC) or the ability to select multiple email messages for deletion that are not in consecutive order option on the Mac (works on PC). I would think that this has to due with the fact the Mac OSX has different triggers for Crl and Alt.

Any work arounds would be great.

I was thinking

But will this block say 70.58.60.200 for example?

Also what about very large blocks.

We installed the newest patch for the collaboration 2006.03 and now every few hours since that update, the web mail is shutting down, mail server is still running, no one can use web mail to check email. We have looked at it for a couple of days, any ideas would be great...Thanks

When you go to create a contact group using Imail 2007.1, it will create the group name, but when you go to add an address and click on the public address book it won't show up. Is there a way to fix this.

Suggestion for Webmail to protect us from Spam and Malware!

I believe that the webmail should have the option (on by default) to NOT download and view graphics in the preview pane. All new e-mail programs do this now and it's smart.

Do I even need to explain why this is beneficial? I can't believe it was missed.

This should work just like Outlook 2003+ Little placeholder boxes but not graphics. Clicking an option will then download graphics if necessary. THis easy fix will close a gaping hole in security and also stop sending web bugs back to spammers. My users are so good at handling this correctly when using Outlook but they then go home and check e-mail via the web from home and screw up their home PCs and notify spammers "here is a live one, send more!")

Please IPswitch, please turn off the viewing of graphics in the preview pane of webmail. Or, if that's too hard, how about an option to view in text mode? Even better!

We just upgraded to Outlook 2007. After the upgrade our workgroup collaboration for shared calendering no longer functions correctly. Specfically all users on a person's share list are now alerted to all meetings rather than just the ones they are invited to.

Has anyone else upgraded to Outlook/Office 2007 and if so have you experienced problems with the synching/sharing of calendar information?

Turn off SPAM filetering for just one hosted domain?

is it possible to turn off SPAM filtering for just one hosted domain?

we have a hosted domain that is unable to send any mail to itself with out the message landing in the SPAM folder. possibly turning off filtering altogether may allow them to recieve SOME internal mail. anyone know if this is possible?

Calendar Sync Problem

Running ICS 2006.2.

Sorry, somehow accidentally posted this.

Was gonna ask about why each time I sync 7 new blank appointments appear in my calendar, but I suspect it has something to do with something in the Deleted Items folder. Testing now to see if that fixes it.

ICS doesn't sync Calandar or Notes, only contacts (even though those options are set to sync)

Tools > Share > Settings

I have Notes, Calander, Contacts, and Tasks all checked, however when I view the calendar via web interface only Contacts show up. Any idea?
