my first web site

hi members. i have just completed the upload to my site and i can see my data if i click on the index.html file in the publish folder inthe right window of ws_ftp home. what i cannot do is to get to it via an address on the internet explorer screen.have tried several combinations of my set up info. ie ftp://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/syhburj or ftp://www.myweb.tiscali.co.uk/syhburj

so if anyone has a suggestion I would appreciate it

Transfer to remote site for gif picture is not happening

I have the gif file in two test areas and it looks fine in both those areas. When I try to transfer using WS_FTP Pro to the remote website, it indicates that it is doing it, but it is not happening because when I check the website, I am still getting the old picture. I have managed to transfer all the other files that I was working on and most of them were gif files to my Images folder. I have checked and double checked the spellings for the file names and they match in both the webpage and the file names. When I go to do the transfer, it says that I am replacing an older file and for half a dozen of the times I tried, the time difference in the files was the same three hours. A moment ago the time difference was less, but the file is still not getting replaced. Why would this be happening all of a sudden and how do I resolve this? I have attached the file that I am trying to transfer. All other transfers are functioning.

Uploading large file

First off Hi I am new here and new to using ftp.
I an trying to upload a large file(7.5mb) to my website and when I try and upload it as soon as I get to 1.5mb it stops and will not resume. Am I doing anything wrong?

One User Can't Receive Incoming E-mails

Dear Forum,

We are using IMail V7.07 and running on windows 2000 professional. Recently one user email cant receive any incoming email. I have tested the user email account and it seems to work just fine. I can send and receive with all the free webmail. I also check the log and I couldn't find anything wrong with it. please help!

Imail Server - Max index size

I am trying to recreate my master mail list for a period of one year, I have combine my .mbx file by copying main1.mbx + main2.mbx +..., Does anyone know how big a mbx file can Imail Server ver 8.1x support? I have encounter problem when the message size goes beyond 4GB? Need advice anyone? Thanks alot.

Dialup versus ADSL connection

freezes on install

When attempting to install, the installshield wizard freezes at the end. Anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you solve it? Oh, and when I open the "close program" box, there's a selection there that says "unhandled exception". When I close it, the installshield wizard terminates.
I'm running Win98SE with 512megs ram, 32 meg vid card, so there shouldn't be a system issue. thanks for any help.

FTP Pro 5.0

I have installed FTP Pro 5.0 and running it on Windows XP. I've got it to connect to my server with no problem but the file where my photos are shows up but the file does not open showing the individual files for me to transfer. I hope this makes sense. I can't seem to establish the local file transfer path to access the file with the data to transfer. Anyone with some insite to this problem please drop me a note I'd appreciate the help. flitlock

How Do I Widen the Folder Name Window?

I am a new user. The folder name windows in my Local and Remote panes are so narrow that they do not reveal the entire name of the file in use. I can move the entire file name window around via drag-and-drop, but I can't figure out how to make the window longer.

Any help appreciated.

WS-FTP Pro deletes files during synchronisation

I am running v9.01 WS_FTP Pro to synchronise my backup FTP site overnight with my live site, using Schedule and Synchronise in WS_FTP. My live application only creates new files. It never deletes files once created.

About one night in three the file counts are different on the two machines, because WS_FTP deletes some of the files copied on previous nights.

I am running a custom synchronise as follows:

Newer on Loc 1 - Delete from Loc1

Only on Loc1 - Delete from Loc1

Same on both - no transfer

Newer on Loc2 - Transfer to Loc1

Only on Loc2 - Transfer to Loc 1

Is this a known problem, or have I configured FTP wrongly?

I am new to IMail and I am having a heck of a problem with spam...I have called technical support several times and they have been very helpful and have told me that I have things as tight as they can be but some of my folks are getting hammered with spam...any ideas on what I can do?

I have to setup WS_FTP Server(for the 2nd host) to use $virtual and to use an External ODBC User database.

When try to connect WS_FTP Server;

If users within my LAN they can connect to WS_FTP server,

but if user outside of my LAN they can not connect to WS_FTP server : Get Error "530 Logon failure ,so quitting" (use the same USERNAME and PASSWORD)

Getting access to website

Hi guys

Pardon a complete beginner, but i knocked together a little website some time ago to publicise the plays what I wrote. I used WS_FTP to load the files and make changes. Then, at the end of 2004 I found WS_FTP wouldn't connect. It kept saying that there was a 530 Login Error. I've tried my helpful ISP (Tiscali) but after some time the best they can offer is that my winsock file is corrupt and needs to be replaced. As far as I can see that involves a complete reload of the system. Is there no easier way ?

Next Button in search does not work

If you perform a search, the next button (i.e. "next 15") at the bottom of the page does not work in IE or Opera. I've tried logged in and logged out, with no change.

IE shows the following error:

I'm using the latest version of Imail an sbc (yahoo) clients have been saying that mail form the imail server is going in to their bulk mail .... Why is that ....My IP is not listing as spam an has check the dns lookup to verify it is not on a black list....

I see another forum member had this problem and solved it by making some changes in Norton Internet Security (probably trusted sites, etc.). I've tried the same thing with McAfee people on the chat line, and nothing works. I've used FTP-Pro for over a year on my laptop (which was upgraded from sp1 to sp2) and never had problems.

This is the message I get when I try to connect to my host pages:

Address lookup of "ftp.tripod.com" failed. It may be misspelled, or your computer may not be connected to the network or Internet.
Also check that your DNS and local name servers are properly configured and responding.

I have checked spelling, address', I have a internet access, not dial up, I copied all info from my old computer when I was using Ipswitch 95? program, now I downloaded the WS_FTP Home to try out before I bought it, last one I had was free. My Firewall is turned off. what else do I need to do, in details would be helpful. I believe I have checked everything after viewing notes online here.
Do I need a license for the try out?

Passwords and Lists on IMAIL

We have set up an IMAIL list of all of our membership (540 members) and have enabled the posters list. We have entered a few people who are authorized to send email to this list as our Posters. We would like anyone on the posters list to have to enter a password to send to the list for security reasons. The list had been working fine without a password until over Christmas and someone spoofed an address book and sent out an email to our list which was not an authorized poster. How does one do that? Is there a way for us to set up this list to require a password? HELP!

Hi. I´m looking for a script (WS_FTP script) for moving files to a FTP Server. My problem is that I have to transfer continously files and when the files reached the server then an other process forward them again, so I can´t use syncronisation cause if the syncro. makes the campare between server and client the file at the server site is maybe moved. I think, I have to scan all files at the client site, copy each per ftp and then delete it, but i can´t save the names of the files in an array or a variable, or ??? A problem more is the mass, there a every day over 30.000 transmission to be done with over 50 GByte.
Does anybody have an idea ??? I hope it so much...

Microsoft update KB889293 kills local access to server ports

After applying Microsoft Update KB889293 on 12/8/04 to two Imail Servers and four other MS2K servers, only the Imail servers can no longer access local ports. IE does not work, we cannot telnet to local ports for 80, 8383, 23, 110, etc.

The box can ping out to other hosts, but not itself.

Anyone else seen this?

Troubling with using the hotdrop folder

I am trying to use the hotdrop feature of WSFTP Pro (VERSION 9.01). Following the instruction I created a hotdrop folder that will upload my local file to a directory on a remote FTP site. The folder is created, I dragged a file from my local site to the hotdrop folder, doubleclick the hotdrop folder to start WSFTP to see if the file uploaded and I see nothing in the defined FTP directory. what did i do wrong..... help

Scheduler no working properly

I've created a schedule to pull files from a specific folder and FTP them but when the scheduler runs it pulls the actual folder that the files are in not the files. If I run the schedule manually it runs fine. Anyone know what my problem may be?

I have 2 Whatsup Pro servers at 2 locations....... I used to run a batch job just to copy *.ini's...... now with a database, how do I keep the servers synch'ed following an update? Do I still copy the *.ini's? How do I update the database(if that is a valid question?)?

Sadly, after having tried to get some asiatance in this forum I have to admit that I COULD NOT.

I followed the advise of some of the forum visitors to switch to CUTE FTP as at least I can get some help and be looked after there... I am not worried abot the money spent on the WS_FTP Pro. Stuff it if there is no interest from the company to the customers...

This s the most unhelpful, unfriendly and unsupportive company that I have ever come across ...

FTP Server Notification Suggestion

IPswitch FYI:

In the "Notifications Library", when adding a email notification, via the right click option to duplicate a current notification, the first item on the choice menu is "Delete" then "Duplicate" is the second item. Ipswitch, I think these should reversed. It is too easy to accidentially delete an existing notice.

wildcard gets in ws-FTP Pro 9.0 scheduler - How?

I want to use the scheduler in WS_FTP Pro 9.0 to go to a remote site to get all of the files named foo*. I can set it up to go and get a specific file, foobar1, and I can see in the .tmp file that is buried in documents and settings\me\application data\yadayadayada how that is done, and it works.

But at a specific time I want to essentially go and get all the files at the remote site, or some subset of all of the files, by using wildcards.

How do I use the scheduler to do this?

problem uploading files

index denied

I have been using WS_TPL LE(2) on my website for about 3 years. We change browsers and we can get to web site on new browser but not on Internet Explorer. Talking with the server they said it looks like there is no index page...
We tried to resend it but keep getting a 500 refused message. We tried deleting the index page but to no avail.... We can get into where we need to send it from but will not go.. We can still send other pages over just not the index page, any suggestions ? Thanks WPSteve
