I found only two options that allowed me to get the latest version installed. First option is to copy the entire IM server directory for installation and then browse to the IMClient.exe file and run that setup and after setup is complete manually copy that MFC71.dll into the clients installed directory. The other option is to first install an earlier version such as 2.01 and then install 2.05. Each computer that that I have installed using the old version first has not had any errors. After getting the newest version up and running I like the old 2.01 much better. The new admin interface is cumbersome and some of the functions I have used in the past no longer work such as sorting "conversations" by user.

RE: Problems installing IM client?

Look at the release notes of the 2.05 version. There is something about that DLL in there.

http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/MI-20051128-DM02.htm

RE: Problems installing IM client?

It's called "somebody forgot to include ALL required DLLs when compiling"

The only solution is to find DLLs on other PCs that do have them or on the Internet.
I am not sure what package they are incluided in but had to install 0 on my PC, about 2 on 2nd one and about 3-4 on 3rd PC.

Just wish I would now how to create an MSI so that way I can have it auto-install without all the extra scripting work!
Problems installing IM client?

Is anyone else having problems installing the IM client that came with Collaboration Suite 2006.02a? When I install it (both on XP pro workstations and on Windows 2000/2003 boxes), I get the following error:

"Self-Registration Error:
The following files did not self-register or unregister:
1. C:\Program Files\Ipswitch\IM Client\IMClientST.dll
The specified module could not be found."

In addition, the client fails to start until MFC71.dll is manually copied into the installation directory and then manually registered.

The client installation file I am using is version 11.0.0.2844, dated 1/27/06 at 3:23 am and sized 7,459 KB.

If I instead run the client installation file from the demo I originally downloaded, (version 2.05?), the installation goes just fine (but I get the old icon). That file is version 9.1.0.429, dated 7/25/05 at 1:08 pm, sized 5,549 KB.

Has anybody else had a problem with this install?

Laura
