IM client can't initiate conversation, but can recieve them and respond

I am running Imail 2006, Premium 9.21, and I have one client who can't initiate a conversation only respond to IM messages. The client was working for around a month previously. Have tried deleting the account under IMail, then readding with same username/email address.

Anybody have any thoughts on what is happening?

I want to start session with the name of my domain from the RT so username@im.mydominio.com but says it is not corecto password, but if I connect well username@148.254.145.58 if gives me access as fix.

Deleted user still in Public Contacts

I added a new user, and then was advised that her name is spelled differently. I deleted the original account, and created a new account, but the original account still appears in Public Contacts, and is indicated as "not a valid user" when selected.

How can I get rid of the deleted user, once and for all?

Login, but not connected

We installed ICS2006 and want to use IM. Our users can log in, but all contacts are shown as "unknown status." On the firewall 5177 is forwarded to the ICS server, and 5178 is open to all. Am I missing another port?

Conversation Store Problem

The Software is configured to retain 2 days of conversations, but seems to be retaining all conversations. If I delete the conversation file it will remove the conversation from the "recent conversations" but still retains the total number of conversations.

Example: I open my client and see I have 149 recent conversations, dating back to middle of October (when I started) longer for users. The server is configured to retain 2 days worth only. I review the conversation log and find 2 conversations from the 19th of October (today is 06Dec; well past 2 days). I delete the conversations and then open my client and review recent conversations again. It still says "of 149" but the two deleted conversations are indeed gone and not viewable but it still maintains the 149 number.

I need to ensure the conversations are removed after 2 days but do not know why they are not rolling off...

Help Any one?

Have clients that are logged out at random. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as it isn't consistent with anything. Some with stay logged on all day, then the next day get booted off every 30 seconds.

Sizing the main window

OK -- I finally figured it out -- it's the tiny button in the lower right-hand corner of the main window -- I know I tried that before and it didn’t seem to resize it, but I guess doubleclicking or something did it

I hit some combination of keys or whatever and the main window for the IM is now full size. I see no "handles" to resize it or any way to return it to the smaller size. Can someone please enlighten me?

Time Off in IM Client by one hour for some users

Some users are showing the people chatting to them are one hour behind. The server is correct and some users are correct but ? Also, I've restarted services on server, checked the latest version of IM Client is 2.05. Any ideas?

hi guys i'm just about to rebuild rather than update, i've built a test server to check out the build, but messages to the main domain are not being delivered, but are being delivered to the virtual domains any suggestions

When I try to open converstaion store (conversationstore.asp) it waits 90 seconds and then just says page can not be displayed. I have changed my default time out for asp pages but it doesn't matter. It still doesn't open. Any ideas?

Disable "Update Clients"

I turned on the update clients option to force users to update to the latest IM client. Now, I can't seem to be able to turn it off, and users are prompted to update every day when they log in. It's simple enough to just click "No" at the update prompt, but it's annoying and unnecessary.

How can I turn off the "update clients" option?

Hi,

I installed the new version of ICS (2.0).

The IMail Server works fine and Web mail to, but the IM dosn't work.

I installed the IM Client Version 2.0.5.450, using the Imail database . I am an ISP so I have multi[lr email domains on the Imail server.
the Imail/Im server is norad13.norad.com

Example :
email domain name "dottest.com"
mx = norad13.norad.com
A records = norad20.norad.com "webserver"

IM logon "hsmith@dottest.com" does not find IM server.

If I add a host alias in domain propertys "norad13.norad.com " still does not resolve . but I get this error message "( Invalid account name or password )"

Adding USERS!!

I was wondering if anyone has this problem or could help me with this issue. We have 2 offices and were running 2 IM servers, one at each office. The problem is that if I'm having a conversation at this office with someone here local and then go and add someone from the other office. They will not see the beginning of the conversation. And vice versa!! For example, if 2 of our employees in Pittsburgh are having a conversation and they add me to the conversation (I'm in Allentown, PA) I will not see whatever they were talking about. The conversation will have to be copied and pasted back in the IM.

Can Login on server but not client

We are testing out IPCollaboration Suite, which includes messaging. We cannot get Messaging to work on any of our client computers. The login in comes up but we cannot login. It attempts at least 88 times. However, I decided to install the Messaging Client on the same computer that the Messaging Server is on, and using the same user ID and password I was able to get signed on to messaging. What might be a possible problem that would cause this? We are running Windows XP on the clients and Windows Server 2000 on the server and I did follow the instructions for adding the IMail top directory to the "Path" variable in the Operating System's "Environment Variables", but so far nothing has worked.

When trying to access Ipswitch WS_FTP I get an error message wsftpgui.exe - Entry Point Not Found

The .exe file is listed in the directory and the wsftpctl.dll is also listed showing both files exist but I continually get the above error messaage when clicking on the .exe file. Anyone know how to fix this? I tried re-instlalling but got the same results.

Duplicate user in IM

Greetings,

I have a user that is appearing twice in the member's list. The user was initially set-up incorrectly (wrong address) but then was corrected. Now two entries are appearing in the list, only one profile exists. The incorrect profile is showing as off-line.

I've tried uninstall and re-install and reset the server with out any luck.

Does anyone have any suggestions or know which file I can edit/delete to remove the incorrect profile.

Skinning question

Rather than make a skin to reflect my windows shell theme, is it possible to have the client use the windows theme settings for the visual style?

A more utilitarian setup is what I'm looking for, with as little wasted space as possible. Gaim 1.5 had a very nice style setup once icons were turned off.

We have been using Instant Messenger at our company for a couple years now and really like the fact that we can view recent conversations. The only thing that has been a pain is when someone accidentally sends an IM to everyone in the company and people either respond back or they end conversation, which of course, pops the IM screen open, even if it is closed. Is there any chance Ipswitch will change this option so when people respond that they have the option to respond either to the group or to just the sender? This has been a real pain in the company.

Oh, and new emotions would be a bonus!

I change peoples display name in the server admin portion and it still shows the old username, even if the client logs in and out it still shows the old info, i dont allow the clients to change their display name. Do i need to do something different on the server?

How do i restart the messasing system? If i restart it will that kill everyones connection?

ok does anyone have a step-by-step guide on how to upload files to the Server, because i have the site on my computer, i used FrontPage, and i dragged all the files to the right screen and they up leaded, but then when i type the address of the site in IE, it says that this page cant be displayed and also images dont appear on the 'uploaded' pages. so if anyone can help me can u please email me with any help at im2cool4u13@gmail.com

For our system processing, we'd like to send an email that will generate an IM message. Or, is there a direct API to the IM Server?

We use MS Exchange Server.

Shared Public Contact Lists

If I understand correctly, Shared Public Contact Lists allows different IPswitch IM servers to share contact lists with each other.

Is it possible such that the contact list of each server can be automatically imported into the other server? I can add each person individually into the public contact list, but that is a really time consuming task if there are more than 10 people per server.

I tried adding the IP of the server that I want to import the contact list from into the "Import Public Contact Lists from these servers" list in the iMail web interface. I also added the IP of the same server to allow it to import my server's contact list, and vice-versa on the other server. Nothing is happening. I tried restarting both services but the list does not seem to be getting imported.

Hope someone can provide me with some insight...

Problems installing IM client?

Is anyone else having problems installing the IM client that came with Collaboration Suite 2006.02a? When I install it (both on XP pro workstations and on Windows 2000/2003 boxes), I get the following error:

"Self-Registration Error:
The following files did not self-register or unregister:
1. C:\Program Files\Ipswitch\IM Client\IMClientST.dll
The specified module could not be found."

In addition, the client fails to start until MFC71.dll is manually copied into the installation directory and then manually registered.

The client installation file I am using is version 11.0.0.2844, dated 1/27/06 at 3:23 am and sized 7,459 KB.

If I instead run the client installation file from the demo I originally downloaded, (version 2.05?), the installation goes just fine (but I get the old icon). That file is version 9.1.0.429, dated 7/25/05 at 1:08 pm, sized 5,549 KB.

Has anybody else had a problem with this install?

Treo SMS to Ipswitch IM?

I have a bunch of users who've adopted the Treo 650 for many needs. They like the SMS features as well as they like the IM client and would like to be able to get from one to the other. They can send an email to the Treo SMS with '<10-char-cell-number>@vtext.com', but I don't see a way to get IPSwitch IM to go there. I have no idea how to go the other way (to get a message into the IM queue).

Any thoughts?
