The support said, this most likely isn't a Imail issue. I couldn't believe it. So I spend some hours in testing and analysing on a cloned system. I am glad to hear, that it helps resolving your problem too.

Karel, You are AMAIZING!!! found SPAM*.txt (empty for the most part) files in each of my domain host directories. removed them and voila!! Why can't the error messages be a little more descriptive about what's happening? Thanks again, BTW where did you get this info? Support ??

Please have a look in your hosts directories. If you can find files named like 'spamskip.txt', delete these files and restart the SMTP service.
This helps me on our system to resolve the problem.

I too get something similar. After upgrading from 9.23 to 11.01 all is working fine, the system starts all services, however when you try to send a message via web client of workstation client it results in the following messages in the api and sys logs. The last two messages show up in the system log as soon as the api messages are created.

Is the SMTPServer service running?

Is the IIS SMTP service running?

Go to a command prompt and type in (netstat -an |find /i "listening" > c:openports.txt) without the parentasis. You can then open the file openports.txt and see what is listening on port 25. It will give you the PID which you can then use Task Manager to see what the PID is.

I checked the settings under Domain, Domain Properties.
The IP is listed in the registry key.
A repair installation results in the same problem.

I did an update on the live system a few month ago. I had the same error and a technician from Ipswitch had much trouble to fix it by switching back to version 10.02. Since that time the system is running version 10.02 with no major problems.

Now I wanted to update to version 11.02 on a new hardware (WinServer 2008 64bit)

I ran in the same trouble as some month ago. But without touching the live system again. I did it on virtual systems. :-)

Relay Setttings have nothing to go with whether or not you can telnet to port 25. If port 25 is not listenting to the IP you have bound to the NIC, then check the following settings. See attachewd file. These are under Domain, Domain Properties.

Make sure the correct IP address is listed in the drop-down. You will also want to check the registry key (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ipswitch\IMail\Domains\your OHN domain) to make sure the proper IP address is listed here as well.

Last resort, you can try a repair install as well to see if anything got missed.

Error after updating to 11.01 from 10.02

After updating an existing installation from IMail Premium version 10.02 to 11.01, I cannot connect to the SMTP port. I try to connect via telnet to the local IP (e.g. 192.168.155.15) on port 25 with no success. Using 'localhost' instead of the local IP, the connection is successful. Also '127.0.0.1' is successful.

I tried all settings in SMTP properties 'Relay for'

The error in api log after starting the SMTP service is:
