In fact, the passwords use a two-way (reversible) hash. IPlus (http://iplus.martek.net) is a good password dump tool.

Nonetheless, as stated, you do not need to recover the password to move the users from one server to another. You can just move the hashed value over.

yes, either in external database or in system registry

for example:

HKLM\Software\Ipswitch\Imail\Domains\list.ipswitch.com\Users\craig

yes, if you just replace old users preferences with new ones

generally, you do not need to recover original passwords, you just need to replace the appropriate hash password values from one field to another

Not even with a backup of the user database that IMail uses?

I mean, by moving the user database through FTP to the new server shouldn't that work, if there's no way of obtaining users' passwords.

i guess that the passwords are in hash, hence, you can not recover them

We are about to migrate our customers to new servers, from IMail 6 (where each customer have their own dedicated IP address) to IMail 8 (where we can to use VIRTUAL domains with a shared ip address).

We'll move a fair amount of customers per day, but we only need to know the customers' passwords.

Is there a way we can get them?

What do we have to do in order to transfer those accounts without changing the password for each customer?

Please help us guys.
