IMail uses the standard Unix mbox format within the file, together with non-standard index files (UID and IDX, though you only need to focus on the UID). If you just place an mbox-formatted file with a .MBX extension in an IMail user folder, IMail will automatically generate the UID file. Of course, the disk and CPU time necessary to gen the index file varies by the size and number of messages in the root mbox file. I know that several versions of Eudora are compatible with this method, but I don't know offhand if all released versions are.

--Sandy

Mbx File Extension

A client has sent me as his old e-mail from another Imail server. However I think that this is not from Imail and from a search I did on google it seems like this file extension is Eudora.

Can anyone shed any light on this subject?
