Hi guys,

Is it possible to hide certain file types in local view when WS_FTP starts up, I have a lot of shortcuts (*.lnk) on my desktop that I want to hide...

I'm using this version:

Thanks

You can use the file mask option. The following information can be found in the Help for the application:

Masking the display of files and folders

If your PC or an FTP site contains a large number of folders and files, you can limit the items displayed by using the File Mask text box (in the command bar).

The File Mask is not enabled on the command bar by default. To enable the File Mask, refer to the Customizing the Command Bar topic.

You can mask the display manually or via the Site Options.

Setting the file mask via Site Options:
Click Connect to open the Site Manager.
Select the site in the Sites list, then click Edit.
Select the Startup page.
To limit the displayed files, enter characters and an asterisk in the Local file mask and/or Remote file mask text box. Examples: To display only text files, enter *.txt. To display only files whose names begin with the letter A, enter a*.
Setting the file mask manually for just the current connection:
You can use a file mask while navigating a particular site. There is a File Mask box in the command bar for each connection tab. In the appropriate File Mask text box, enter a file mask and then press Enter.

Hi MicahT,

I already read the help docs, and it's doing the direct opposite of what I want it to do

If I add '*.lnk' in the box, only the .lnk files are shown, I want to show all files except these files, and if possible do it generically and not have to edit each site one by one(there are over 100 sites in my Site Manager)

The file mask option in our application is used to display the requested file type extension. This has been added as a Feature Request to be able to exclude a file extension on local display

Brilliant software, most reliable transfer client I have ever used and I have used em all... Smart, Filezilla, native DW FTP, Cute etc... but u'd think a basic feature like this would be built in...
