I loaded 1998 file via WS FTP. I tried to load another 1000 files into the same directory on my server. WS FTP said it successfully transferred the additional files to the correct directory, but they don't show up. I've tried adding another 10 files. Again it says they were transferred to the right directory. But they aren't there. Anyone have this problem before, or know a solution?

Any answers will be appreciated.

Do you know the type of server you're connecting to? More than likely, the server is only returning 1998 files from the file list... so they're up there and WS_FTP is transferring them properly, but the server doesn't report anything beyond the 1998.

I am having the same problem. Two different ISP's have told me it's my ftp client failing to read the entire contents of a folder. I have 3000 files in a flder and it only sees 1,998. What is the solution?

I have always been led to believe that the limit is usually set on the server side and can only be changed by the administrator.

here is an exc

Question/Problem: Does WS_FTP limit the number of files shown when viewing directories and folders?

Answer/Solution: There are no hard-coded display limitations on the number of files displayed when you view the contents of directories and folders. However, the number of files displayed IS is dependent on the operating system, how much memory is available, and similar factors.

Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows ME have a limit of 2048 files (or directories) that can be displayed.
