4) Web calendar integration with Outlook.

Alan and Greg B - This feature is available in IMail v10.

To the best of my knowledge, this feature does not work for remote syncing with a phone running Microsoft Mobile 6.1 and Outlook.

Hi Greg,

Thanks for the clarification.  Check out http://blogs.imailserver.com tomorrow afternoon, I'll be posting some additional screenshots of IMail v11 related to this topic.

I would like to see a better method of managing the shared contacts.  The method of adding and deleting shared contacts is a bit primative at best.  We have two domains within the company and we try to keep everyone in the company listed in the shared contacts of the appropriate domain.

When we add a new user, it is a cumbersome task to also add the new user to the shared contact lists for everyone in the domain.  It would also be nice if there were a way to automatically remove a contact from the shared contact list when the user was deleted.

Thanks for asking. To me, the biggest shortcoming of Imail are:

a) List Server - it hasn't kept pace in years.

b) Envelope Level spam control. It's totally unacceptable that Imail performs virtually all of its spam and virus checks AFTER the connection has been dropped. By THAT time, the message has been accepted.

When black lists, reverse DNS, SPF, valid MX are available for checking DURING the connection, then Imail could simply return a 5xx and it would be up to the sending mail server to notify its users (if it was a legitimate sender).

The way things are now, the email is first accepted THEN checked for spam. 95% of these message are likely spam. But, if we delete the outright, we have failed the RFCs - plus, if there WAS the occasional "false positive" that tripped over a legitimate message, now the VALID sender won't have any notice that the message was NOT delivered AFTER it was accepted by Imail.

If, however, we DO generate valid bounce messages for every "blocked" message, we are now major contributors of backscatter (since 95%+ messages will NOT be from valid senders) and it will land our Imail servers on blacklists (and rightfully so).

The solution is obvioulsy to NOT accept spam, but to BLOCK as much spam as possible during the SMTP connection - which after all these years of promsing "anti-spam" and "anti-virus" solutions, Imail still doesn't do. Instead, we have to purchase license for Alligate, install ASSP or buy ORF etc and use it to "front-end" Imail (after extracting domain, user and alias lists manually from the IMail registry).

If you HAD a real Spam solution, more people would upgrade to it, because they could SAVE on third-party licenses.

Best Regards,
Andy Schmidt

#1. Fix all existing bugs before adding additional features.

#2. Ability to White list all users in your address book.

#3. Remove the statistics feature and replace it with an ability to report email as spam utility. When an email is reported as spam the urls, and phrases of that email would be added to that domains url/phrase black list. Each list file should contain (#bad)(#good) url/phrase item should be rated as number of times reported as spam. a phrase white list would be needed. also would need a report email as not spam, which would have the opposite affect and place a point in the (#good). admin can set the ratio to determine as spam in the admin section.

At a minimum have a "1 click" reporting system so users can report spam that makes it through the filters so the rules can be adjusted properly.

#4. Increase Web interface Speed back to pre 8.x performance without using some "lite" version with very limited and hard to use interface.

#5. As someone else requested, more anti-spam controls. Preferably a rating based system, every spam flag an email hits should add a point. Based on specified number of points an email can be placed in a spam folder. Right now creating 80+ rules to do this is a bit tedious.

#6. Better contact management system, the current setup is primal at best.

#7. Instead of just having Delete Message after [#] Matches, please add an option like: [Delete/move to folder(spam)] Message after [#] Matches

In this day and age of technological mobility, I would think that a top priority should be to integrate IMail with windows mobile functionality. I work for a large corporation and we are thinking of moving to a platform that works better with mobile technology.
