I've upgraded from WUP v11.03 to v12 and SQL Server 2000 on the same server for its DB. Since the upgrade I periodically see the following error in the Windows Event Log:

Event Type:Error
Event Source:Application Error
Event Category:(100)
Event ID:1000
Date:5/19/2008
Time:5:13:15 PM
User:N/A
Computer:XXXXXX
Description:
Faulting application NMService.exe, version 12.0.1.877, faulting module PasWinEvent.dll, version 12.0.1.877, fault address 0x00011f98.

---------------------------------------------------

This error is always the same but I can't seem to find why. I have the NMService set to automatically restart when it stops so its working at the moment but clearly thats just a band-aid solution covering whatever problem is hidden beneath the surface.

I have searched the forums and the knowledge base for topics covering NMService and PasWinevent but have had little luck in finding a solution. Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe one of your passive monitor causes this crash when it triggers, either by itself or through the actions it fires.
I would have a look at the Passive Monitor report in order to find which one may be causing this.

I removed mine and turned off the Win Event monitor and those errors stopped. No one was able to give me a coherent reason as to what the problem was so I gave up. Think Im going to try GFI's Event Monitor in order to meet some PCI requirements anyway.

Yeah the Windows Event Logging does not appear to work. Is anyone from Ipswitch willing to assist? I'd like to be able to utilize this feature.

Hi,

I'm getting a similar problem having just upgraded from 11.0.3 to 12.0.2. The exact error message is:

"Faulting application NmService.exe, version 12.0.1.877, faulting module msvcr80.dll, version 8.0.50727.1433, fault address 0x000127da"

Is there a definitive fix for this problem?

Thanks.
