I have worked with WS_FTP Pro 2007 on Vista Business (32 bit) for a while, when all of a sudden it won't start anymore, but gives a message saying: "WS_FTP does not appear to have been installed correctly for the current user. IPswitch WS_FTP wil exit".
Strange because there is only one user for my computer and that user (myself) has administrator priviliges.

If I want to use the program, I need to reinstall it. Completetly uninstalling it and reinstalling it as administrator (which I did the first time) doesn not help.

Is there any soultion for this problem?

Thanks in advance for your help :-)

Thanks for responding,

I did all that extensively, but that does not solve my problem.
I disabled firewalls, virusscanners, and any other program that might interfere with registry changes and things like that, but to no avail.

Any more suggestions would be very welcome :-)

Cheers,
Gurt

Considering the facts that:
- There does not seem to be a clear solution to this problem on this forum...
- I need to pay for a service in order to get an application that I paid for to work, hence Ipswitch does not itself believe in the applications they build...
- Other peoples responses on this forum on the lousy support and service in general of Ipswitch...
- I need this application now for my business and apparently I cannot rely on it, nor the support...

... I have decided not to wait for a solution from Ipswitch, nor spend extra money on their service to try and get a working solution for this problem. I have just now bought a copy of CuteFTP of which I hear a lot of good things.

What an unbelievable disappointment. Another Ipswitch customer out the door.

I'm having exactly the same problem, but with WS_FTP Home (also a "paid for" product). Like you, I've been using it successfully for over a year, but noticed a problem when I brought up IE7 (normally I use FireFox) and got a message: "WS_FTP cannot start".

I then tried to start WS_FTP and got the message: "WS_FTP does not appear to have been installed correctly for the current user. IPswitch WS_FTP will exit".

I am able to run WS_FTP, but only as Administrator (even tho I'm sole user (with Admin privileges)).

My OS is Vista Ultimate.

Have you walked through the KB article and still have the issue?

The KB article suggests solving the problem by disabling the UAC.

I was hoping to find a solution without leaving my computer exposed to greater risk.

After using WS-FTP pro for a long time I just got this same message. I reinstalled it, then disabled UAC as suggested. It will work properly that way or if I run it as administrator. BUT it doesn't work as it should nor like it did a couple hours ago.
I've paid for and run this SW for a long time.

Do you have any suggestions?
