Is a list with supported mobiles or gsm cards available? I also have tested the direct sms feature, but it does not work.

There is a list, but only very few modems are supported, list from help file:

  • Motorola® RAZR V3
  • MultiModem® GPRS external wireless modem, model: MTCBA-G-F2
  • Siemens TC65 Terminal
  • Falcom Samba 75

  • I have a MTCBA-G-F1 and MTCBA-G-F4, which are both almost identical to MTCBA-G-F2... but nothing works...

Thank you for your answer! I think it would be nice if there is any supported internal modem (pci). In the data center it is not so good to connect external devices.

My issue seems to be related to baudrate and Flow-control. Read more here:

    http://forums.ipswitch.com/FindPost46183.aspx

After sending following to my modem, it seems to work problemless:

    AT+IFC=0,0
    AT+IPR=0
    AT&W

I have a Sony Ericsson GS64/10 external gsm modem and i got it working under Win2003 Server and WUG12.3

i tried a variety of settings, like setting the dce speed in the gsm modem to 115200 fixed, hardware flow control, nothing worked.

The following setup worked for me:

The windows driver is the standard 5600 modem driver, with DCE speed set to max 115200, "don't wait for dialtone" and flow control set to "xon/xoff"

i used the following nonstandard settings in the gsm modem:

    AT+IFC=1,1
    AT+IPR=0
    AT&W

..which set the port speed to auto (fixed speed did not work), flow control to software.

    In the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ipswitch\Network Monitor\Whatsup
    Plugins\Actions\ActSmsDirect\

i deleted the content of the InitString Value to make sure that wug only uses the settings i stored in the gsm modem nvram.

I post some of the status information here:

    AT&V

    Serial Speed: Auto

I also have a MultiTech F4 modem. I was able to issue the command AT+IFC=0,0 and the direct sms worked immediately.

In spite of the documentation telling you to go set the BAUD rate in the Windows Control Panel to what the modem needs, they are either ignoring this for some hard-coded rate or the program has some other issue with this rate.

I think product engineering needs to take a look at this and devise a fix - ASAP.

Oh, one last thing you might want to try : wug only supports software flow control, eg xon/xoff.

    So you must :

a/ Set your com port to xon/xoff in the windows device manager,

b/ Set your gsm modem, through its at command set, to software flow control.

Reading, writing and arithmetic - If you need to choose, please take option 1.
