| | I give up please forgive my ignorance... So I buy a MultiModem GPRS/GSM modem model# MTCBA-G-F2 as suggested in the help information with WUG v12. HOW do I get service for it? I'm in the US and calling Verizon, AT&T, T-mobile etc... and saying "I have a GSM modem..." just causes them to glaze over. I've not actually purchased the modem yet so if someone is using WUG v12 doing direct SMS with a GSM modem on a wireless provider available near Atlanta Georgia... please let me know. Thanks, Robert

| The modem has a place to pop in a SIM card, I expect you could just get the cheapest plan possible (since you won't be making any calls) for a SIM card and that's that.
But I've never done such a thing so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about! |

| | I guess that's where my confusion lies... I can just pop a SIM card out of a phone with service and plug it into the modem? No ESN updates or such with the carrier? If that's the case... I could order a phone with cheap service and unlimited SMS and when it arrives, just move the SIM card to the modem and it will work?

| Let me try this... would anyone be willing to post their WUG v12 working direct SMS hardware / service provider combinations?

There's no reason you shouldn't be able to. I carry a spare phone around with me; if the battery on my Blackberry dies, I put my SIM card into my Nokia and I'm good to go. Telco shouldn't care about the hardware, as long as they're getting paid. |
