Just curious why the program needs to expand folders and why it takes so long - If I use other free ftp clients, they start sending the data imediately, whereas Pro expands folders, and all transfers are "pending" and the free clients have 1/3 of the data transfered by the time Pro finishes expanding.

(I asked tech service - my 60 day warrenty period is up so they can't answer questions about their product - nice!)

One of the reason to expand first is to know how big is the request and how long the transfer is going to take.  However, it should not take too long to expand the folders.  In particular, WS_FTP Pro caches the data, so if you have already visited the folders, it should take even less time.   You might have another problem that is making Pro to take longer to expand.   Take a look at the log and if you have doubts please send those logs.

WS_FTP Pro can transfer many files at the same time, so of you are transferring large folders I would recomend to change the Site option "Maximun transfer connections" to a larger value.  The maximum is 20.   Using many connection can significantly speed up transfers.

I too have the same problem.
I have been waiting over two hours while wsftp pro exands the folders for a gallery before it will upload them.

Due to the "expanding folders" problem, I have stopped using WS FTP Pro when trying to copy down whole file systems. I use Filezilla instead for this sort of operation. I am using WS FTP Pro less and less because of this one problem. You don't want to use two ftp clients. You just want the one. When filezilla grows up a little more I will probably switch lock, stock and barrel.
